A two-year-old petition asking Sony to makeDays Gone 2is still getting signatures and is in fact closing in on a major milestone. TheChange.org petitionwas started two years ago by user Kanhai Raval in wake of the news that Sony wasn’t going to move forward withDays Gone 2after the original game failed to live up to the company’s expectations. The petition amassed over 100,000 signatures after a year on the site, and it is now well on its way to reaching 200,000 signatures.

Days Goneis an open world zombie game developed by Bend Studio, the developer perhaps best known for itsSyphon Filterfranchise. There was a great deal of hype forDays Gonein the months leading up to its release, as PlayStation’s first-party games have a reputation for being high-quality experiences. Unfortunately,Days Gonedid not live up to Sony’s expectations, earning mixed reviews and failing to generate the sales that were apparently expected of it.

Even though aDays Gonesequel was pitched, it seems Sony is not interested in making the game and Bend Studio has since moved on to other projects.Days Gonefans aren’t giving up hope, however, and so the petition asking Sony to make a sequel is getting renewed attention, even two years after it was initially listed on Change.org. The petition has over 180,000 signatures at the time of this writing. New signees appear with every refresh of the page, suggesting that it could very well cross the 200,000 signatures mark by the time it’s all said and done.

It’s unlikely that Sony will be convinced to move forward with aDays Gonesequel regardless of how many people sign the Change.org petition, unfortunately. Bend Studio, meanwhile, is busy making anopen world multiplayer gameof some description, though further details are unavailable at the time of this writing. All that’s been confirmed so far is that the game will be a brand-new IP, so fans shouldn’t expect any connections to theSyphon FilterorDays Goneuniverses.

While some fans may be disappointed that Bend won’t be given the opportunity to follow up onDays Gone, the bright side is that the game is at least readily accessible to play on modern platforms. Initially released as a PS4 exclusive,Days Goneis playable on PS5 thanks to the console’s backward compatibility, and it is even a part of the PS Plus Collection lineup. Not only that, butDays Gonehas been ported to PCas well, making it available to an even wider audience of gamers.

Days Goneis available now for PC and PS4.
