During a recent live stream of Ross and Jynxzi playing some golf, it was revealed during the broadcast that the streamer had been swatted. For those who are unfamiliar with the practice, swatting is when someone calls emergency services on a specific individual in order to surprise them with a large amount of police officers showing up at their home or wherever they happen to be at the time. Although this has been a long-running internet phenomenon, swatting on Twitch and other platformsis always a shocking thing for viewers to witness due to how dangerous it is.
The brief clip only shows the feet of Ross since he puts down the camera to not get in trouble with the police officers who showed up. Eventually, the live stream freezes and cuts out due to an officer demanding that Ross turn the camera off. Since the prank started to become popular,no streamer has been safe from swatting, and it has effected both professionals and hobbyists.
Despite the scary situation, Ross and Jynxzi are both safe. AlthoughKick is competing with Twitch, the platform is still not safe from the act of swatting. The problem with swatting is that there really isn’t any way to stop it. When it comes to streamers, everyone is a target, and it can be an incredibly scary thing to face. Not only is it scary for the streamer, but it is also a tense situation for viewers to go through while tuning into a live stream, and there will hopefully be a solution someday.
