The developers ofAlan Wake 2have officially released the patch notes for the game’s first update, which affects all consoles and PC, and mostly focuses on solving bugs and known issues.Alan Wake 2is a survival horror game, and while it has a perfectly scary atmosphere, it can be let down by glitches, so developers are rushing to fix everything quickly.
While it’s fair to say thatAlan Wake 2received a pretty good overall reception, it’s not free from technical issues. For instance,Alan Wake 2reviewscomplained about bugs, such as Saga Anderson’s case wall getting glitched, and a few game-breaking bugs like black screens blocking progress, for instance. So, these recent updates are a good first step to improve the overall experience.

Now, Remedy Entertainment has unveiled the official patch notes forAlan Wake 2. Each update has a different name depending on the platform: Xbox Series X/S (1.0.0.4), PS5 (1.00.05), and PC (1.0.6), and also fix different issues. All of them are focused on solving undisclosed bugs, but the PC patch also changes the error message when third-party apps stop the game from starting, for example. The Xbox update, on the other hand, deals with unique and UI-related graphical issues. In the post where the patch was announced, the team also affirmed that they are currently asking for player feedback to fix other technical issues and keep patching the game. They also claimed to be already aware of a specific bug in which audio is cutting off on Xbox and stated it’s being worked on. The update was rolled for PC and PS5 during the weekend and went live on Xbox Series X/S on Monday.
While essentially everything in this update is related to fixing bugs,Alan Wake 2fans can expect more interesting additions in the near future. A few days ago, Remedy confirmed thatAlan Wake 2would get a New Game+ mode. In this update, the players would be able to retain all their upgraded weapons, play at higher difficulty levels, and access new content via an “alternative narrative.”
Apart from this,Alan Wake 2will receive free DLC. The game’s director Sam Lake affirmed that these DLC drops will be pretty significant, but did not unveil many details about them so far. Additionally,Alan Wake 2will get two paid expansions, which will be called Night Springs and Lake House.
