The first season proved difficult to follow for some, although it was well-received, and fans ofThe Witcherwere simply happy to have their favorite book or video game series translated to television. The Witcherseason two has seen Geralt and Ciri taken to Kaer Morhen, the Witcher’s keep, which fans have been happy to see the series explore further. While season two has just been released, season three is already being discussed, which bodes well for the future of the series.
The Witcherseason two has brought with it a number of characters and locations that will be familiar to fans of both the books and the games. Whilehow muchThe Witcheron Netflix is based around the video game seriesis questionable, there are a number of aspects that gamers may have picked up on while watching the series that may seem familiar. The Witcher Medallion
InThe Witcherseason one, fans of the game series were disappointed to find out that Geralt’s wolf medallion was different in style from the one players saw in the games. While inThe Witchergame series, Geralt has a 3D wolf head hanging around his neck, in the TV series, it was more of a traditional two-dimensional medallion. However, at the end of episode two, eagle-eyed viewers may have noticedThe Witchergame’s medallionhanging from the medallion tree. This is either a nice nod to the video game series iteration of Geralt, or interpreted as a confirmation of some of the more morbid fan theories surrounding the “bad"Witcher 3ending.
The Witcher Video Game Series Swords
The swords inThe WitcherNetflix seriesare yet another way that the show differs from the video games. InThe Witcherseason one, fans noted how Geralt didn’t carry around both of his swords on his back as he does in the video game. Instead, Geralt’s sword-carrying habits resembled that of Geralt from the books. However, inThe Witcherseason two, fans of the video games may have noticed two swords in particular on display in the basement of Kaer Morhen. These swords were clearly designed as Geralt’s silver and steel swords from the video games, which was a nice Easter Egg for fans.
The Witcher Netflix Guard
In episode four ofThe Witcherseason two, fans ofThe Witchergames may have noticed a familiar voice. In this episode, Jaskier encounters a very opinionated dock guard who shares with Jaskier faults in his songs, including a confusing timeline and obvious dragon reveal. Coincidentally, all of these werecomplaints thatThe Witcherfans had pointed out inThe WitcherNetflix series. Aside from the dock guard voicing familiar talking points, it is his voice itself that may have stood out to fans ofThe Witcher 3. This is because the actor playing this opinionated dock guard is the same one who voiced Cleaver inThe Witcher 3.
The Witcher Season Two’s Yrden Sign
Sign magic inThe Witcheris a big feature in both the books and the video games, and likewise, Yrden is present in both iterations. However, Yrden in Netflix’sThe Witcherwill be much more familiar to fans ofThe Witchergames. In the final battle against the Deathless Mother, Geralt uses Yrden as a magical trap. This bears a much closer resemblance toThe Witchergames as in the books, Yrden is a protective spell rather than an offensive one. This is one of the subtler references, although most who have playedThe Witchergames will pick up on the spells use.
