If there is one thingAnimal Crossingfans are known for, it’s ingenuity, withNew Horizonsplayers constantly creating amazing builds using the game’s construction tools. A new island build from a Reddit user has gone so far as to recreate Phenac City fromPokemon Colosseum, complete with its waterways and many of its buildings. Phenac City is perhaps most notable due to it having the only trading post inPokemon Colosseum’sOrre region, located in its Pokemon Center.
PokemonColosseumis one of the lesser knownPokemongames, despite being the best-selling RPG for the GameCube to date, most likely due to the GameCube’s low sales compared to other consoles of its generation. With this being such a niche build, many fans of the game were excited to see one of the more memorable cities from the gamereconstructed inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, with some just excited to see that other people were aware of the game’s existence.

Redditor IanThaGame has clearly put a lot of thought into their build, with an emphasis on recreating as many of Phenac City’s water-themed areas as possible. InPokemon Colosseum, the city is located in a desert, built around an oasis, and its water supply is on display as a point of pride. ThisAnimal Crossing:New Horizonsbuildhas captured this perfectly, with the town’s main fountain taking prominence at the center of the build and a large array of waterfalls moving water around their island.
IanThaGame also does a great job of approximating Phenac City’s gym, usingAnimal Crossing: New Horizon’smuseumas a stand-in, while managing to capture the original’s tiled floor using various different shades of pathing. IanThaGame’s version of Phenac City is certainly a lot more lush with greenery, as while the original had the odd palm tree scattered around, thisNew Horizonsbuild has a myriad of bushes and flowers to brighten up the desert city’s vibe.
What’s great about this build is that it doesn’t use too many custom parts or any ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizon’sglitchesto function. While IanThaGame utilizes some custom floor tiles around the central fountain, most of the detailing is done usingAnimal Crossing: New Horizon’sdefault construction tools. This means that players who want to attempt to reconstruct this Phenac City island theme in their own game will have an easier time of doing it, without needing to download a load of custom content. Having said that, anyone attempting this build will likely need an eye for detail, as this island uses the water terraforming tool fairly expertly.
Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis available now for the Nintendo Switch.
