If anyone has ever looked at the replies to a social media post from officialApex Legendsaccounts or any of its developers at Respawn Entertainment, one would almost certainly see someone asking forSolos to be brought back to the game. Some now are hopeful that they may be getting their wish and more, as a Ranked Solos mode could be coming in Season 8 of Apex Legends, according to a new leak.
This leak comes as a bit of a surprise,Respawn has denied that Solos would ever return toApex Legends,as recently as last week. Back in April of last year Respawn released a statement saying how Solos, “actually negatively impacted the game, especially when it came to new player retention” because the entire design philosophy ofApex Legendsrevolves around each legend’s abilities complimenting one another.

But all of these statements would be for not if a new leak is to be believed. Twitter user @SomeoneWhoLeaks, who has hadreliable leaks in the past like the trailer for the Fight Night Collection Event, recently posted several screenshots. The images look to be of a club timeline from internal testers forApexand show things such as a third update to King’s Canyon, several Limited Time Modes, thepreviously leaked and rumored Arena mode, and something called #PL_Ranked_Leagues_solo.
Many seemed to latch on to #PL_Ranked_Leagues_solo and believe it to mean that a Ranked Solos League is coming toApex. FellowApexleaker @Biast12 pointed out in the replies that they feel that the #PL_Ranked_Leagues_solo is likely just for testing purposes, particularly for a No-Fill feature, and is not intended for release. That feature would presumably be for someone who wants to play by themselves in a match of Duos or Trios without being assigned random teammates, and is something else the community has been asking for.
A “No-Fill” feature would at least go some distance to please those who want to play alone without random teammates, without splitting up the player base into another matchmaking pool. Only time will tell if Respawn will decide to add Solos toApex Legends, but those hopeful may find out soon, as Season 8 seems likely to start in early February.
The current Season 7 is set to end in early February and theteases of the next legend, Fuse, are already appearing in-game. According to other datamined information, it looks like Season 8 will start on or aroundApex’s second anniversary on February 4 and will include a host of new recolors for popular old cosmetics.
Apex Legendsis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version also in development.
