A 4K RTX gameplay reveal trailer for the upcoming FPS action role-playing gameAtomic Hearthas been revealed. The video showcases a wide array of scenes and scenarios in its one-minute and eight-second runtime, giving the viewer a general idea of what to expect. But more importantly, it displays what the RTX technology is capable of in the world ofAtomic Heart. The game will be arriving from publishers Focus Entertainment, 4Divinity, and Mundfish, with the latter being the developer as well.
Atomic Heartfollows the story of Agent P-3, or Major Nechaev, an augmented special duty officer as he tries to discover the secrets of Facility 3826 in an alternate 1950s USSR where robots are an everyday part of life. Professor Sechenov created robots and a way to control them through “Thought,” an artificial connection between man and robot, to establish a utopia for humans. But ifBioshockand games like ithave taught players anything, it’s that you can’t ever trust a utopia.

Because of the variety of scenes, the trailer perfectly showcases what the new GeForce RTX rendering is capable of. The technology is still new, and it allows the in-game materials to look and act much more realistic when it comes to properties such as how light interacts with them. The reveal starts with a view of a canal, immediately showing off what RTX is truly capable of as the water acts and looks very much like its real-world counterpart. Another example is the scene that’s more than likely part ofAtomic Heart’s Facility 3826, with a red substance growing out of the floor. If the viewer looks at the tiles or how the strange substance interacts with light, that’s what makes RTX so valuable.
What the viewer is shown in this reveal is a technology still in its infancy, but it holds significant meaning for the future of gaming when it comes to creating realistic worlds. It is visible in the way the water droplets drift on the windshield of P-3’s car or how every little light source is reflected on a marble floor. They might seem like small details that could be easily missed at first glance, but it makesAtomic Heart’s world all the more realistic.
Looking at the comments, there seems to be a lot of excitement, with some players hoping the game to be as engaging as good the graphics look. There are also those who express doubt with regard to the game running smoothly using RTX, worrying that it will make the frame rate drop. Either way,Atomic Heartis raising the barhigh already as every frame dazzles, showing off various visual feats that promise a beautiful experience. But whether the game will actually live up to the now rather high expectations is still yet to be seen.
Atomic Heartreleases on February 21 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
