The mod, created by nexus1118, not only brings the characters to life but also expands the party limit within the game to match the number of members in theFellowship of the Ring(Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Aragorn, and Gandalf). To achieve this, the mod’s creator utilized other mods to modify character appearances and facilitate the inclusion of the entire Fellowship. Although faces didn’t turn out exactly similar to the ones in theLOTRmovies, classes and appearances do closely resemble them.

Describing the process, the mod’s creator mentioned having to run eight instances of the game window in “potato mode” while logged out of Steam to initiate the first eight characters. Subsequently, they transitioned to single-player mode to recruit the character of Gandalf. Additionally, each character’s guardian has been thoughtfully chosen to match the character’s background. The Guardian inBaldur’s Gate 3makes appearances in cutscenes within the dreams of the player’s main character and aids them in their quest. In nexus1118’s mod, players have Bilbo representing the hobbits, Galadriel for Gimli, Arwen for Aragorn, Denethor for Boromir, Thranduil for Legolas, and a High Elf for Gandalf.

The mod comes with a little catch as the creator advises reducing the party size to four members before embarking on boat journeys to avoid potential bugs. They also recommend disabling some members of the fellowship before certain events in the game, as somechallenges and quests inBaldur’s Gate 3are challengingfor a party of four.

Baldur’s Gate 3mods are an ingenious wayto enhance the gaming experience, highlighting the creativity that fans bring to their favorite titles. Therefore, it is expected that future mods like this will continue to emerge forBaldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3is available now on PC and PS5 with an Xbox Series X version also in development.
