On the careers page on Blizzard’s website, there is a job listing for Lead Social Game Designer that has a few clues about what kind of game it is recruiting for.Blizzard has already announced this new survival game in a new worldbut other than that not many details are known about it. The job posting says a successful candidate “will motivate players to engage with each other in ways both competitive and collaborative, forming new bonds of friendship or rivalry, and ultimately, developing those bonds into meaningful relationships.”

Blizzard is no stranger to the co-op genre withWarcraftandDiablobeing their most notable IPs despiteWorld of Warcraft’s active player base dropping drastically since 2021. The notion of the game developer making a co-op survival game set in a new world outside its main IPs is a new yet familiar direction for Blizzard to move going forward.

It’s not surprising that Blizzard’s newest IP would go back to the roots it is already known for. This new gamecould be a bit of a risky decision for Blizzardsince this new universe will be unfamiliar to fans, but it could be a new beginning for the troubled company. Blizzard has already continued work on its already known IPs, but it has been a long time since the company has ventured into building a new game world so anything is possible.
