TheBorderlandsseries is well known for over-the-top looter shooter action, dark comedy, and a distinct comic book art style with post-apocalyptic punk sensibilities. Fans who appreciate the games' sense of humor and focus on action have created a number of tributes in the past. Now, one dedicated fan ofBorderlandshas printed off a detailed 3D figure of the outrunner, the first type of vehicle made available to players in the original game.

This isn’t the first time aBorderlandsfan has captured the series' appeal in art, but the 3D printed outrunner figure is intriguingly close to the way vehicles and items are digi-structed in the games. The Borderlands universe is full of blueprints that allow for items, creatures, and even people to be built on command. This futuristic technology has more than a few links to modern 3D printing, making this a very fitting method to construct an outrunner figure with.

Redditor The15thGamer shared a picture of their freshly assembled and painted outrunner figure, which shows theBorderlandsvehicle that resembles a dune buggywith a turret apparently parked on a wood floor. In the game, outrunners can seat up to two people–one to drive and one to man the turret–with an optional third spot for a brave player willing to stand between the vehicle’s front wheels. This position is dangerous both because of enemy fire and because the player may be left behind if they lose contact with the outrunner.

According to The15thGamer, they found the schematics for the model free online and were able to download the car without issue. Once they had acquired the outrunner, they were able to paint it according to their whims. The15thGamer went on to question whyBorderlandsisn’t selling mass-produced outrunner model kits or otherreal-life versions of iconicBorderlands' items.

It appears that other Borderlands fans are quite taken with The15thGamer’s 3D printed outrunner. One user announced they would gladly pay $40 for an outrunner figure of their own and expressed a desire to have their G.I. Joe figures drive it. Another user called the outrunner figure the coolest thing they’d ever seen on theBorderlands 3subreddit. The15thGamer posted about their intentions to print off tiny figures ofsome ofBorderlands' vault huntersto sit in the outrunner, though they also noted they did not currently know how to do so.

Borderlands 3is out now for PC, PS4, PS5 Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
