To start the process of building a personalized weapon, players are going to have to play the first two missions of the upcoming expansion, which won’t requirepurchase ofThe Witch Queenat launch. From here, a quest and the materials will be given to the player that will walk them through the process of crafting their first weapon, while also teaching where and how to obtain these materials for future builds. The first weapon will also be a brand-new archetype for the series, the Glaive, with other weapon types being available to build as soon as the necessary materials are acquired.
Beyond building the weapon, players will then be tasked with fighting enemies and completing activities in order to level up their stats and give them new features along the chosen builds that they choose. These paths for different weapon builds can also be reshaped, keeping players from being stuck down one path with a weapon archetype they don’t like and have to completely start over from scratch. In addition to the legendary weapons that players can build, Bungie also promises that up to four ofDestiny 2’s new exoticswill be customizable at the Enclave.
The full extent of the customization options for legendary weapons is an impressive step for a series that often builds out the weapon grind with RNG based perk rolling. So, introducing a way where players might be able to better define the build they want to make could tons ofweapon options inDestiny 2: The Witch Queen, especially as players will quickly start to pull apart the best crafting paths for a new meta. Even if this turns out to be little more than a new grind for the series, having specified goals at the end with tangible milestones could be the start of Bungie launchingDestiny 2into a new era for the series.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
