Fishing isn’t exactly a brand new feature in theCall of Dutyfranchise, with 2014’sCall of Duty: Advanced Warfareincluding the Fishing Pole and fishing side activity on the Exo Zombies map Carrier. InAdvanced Warfare, the fishing pole played a role inthe Flotsam & Jetsam Easter eggand it was built by putting together the reel, fishing line, and hook. Zombies fans could also fish for 100 credits, a redfish, or a shovel which would each benefit them in some way. Treyarch confirmed fishing forCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warsimply by saying that fishing would be added to Zombies with the upcoming Outbreak update.
It’s currently unclear whether Treyarch will makeCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies fans build the fishing pole or if the feature will play a larger rolethan it did inAdvanced Warfare. Zombies gamers won’t have long to wait to find out as fishing will be added to the game mode with next week’s mid-season update alongside new weapons, round-based maps, a new main quest, Intel Documents, Audio Logs, Radio Transmissions, and new Artifacts to discover along the way.
Fortniteincludes fishing as a side activity for players to earn weapons or consumables, and this may be no different withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies' fishing. While many fans ofCall of Duty: Warzonemay be intrigued to fish in the popular free-to-play battle royale, the feature has only been officially confirmed for the Zombies game mode. Since zombieshave found their way over toWarzone, there may be more overlap in the future that introduces the fishing mechanics to the battle royale, but Zombies fans will at least be able to cast their lines next week.
Several gameplay improvements and bug fixes will be implemented in bothCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies and theDead Ops Arcade 3 game mode. Dead Ops Arcade 3 will also be receiving a big new addition with the upcoming mid-season update when the Silverback Slideways bonus map is added to the game. More additional content will be added toBlack Ops Cold WarZombies as the season continues, with Treyarch assuring fans that they can expect more to come before the completion of Season 4.
