In their statement,CD Projekt Redclaimed that the game was in its final “most-intensive” stages of development. What exactly the company meant by that is vague, but considering how grandiose in sizeCyberpunk 2077is supposed to be, it’s not hard to imagine that the developers of the game are in crunch time.Cyberpunkis set to release mid-April, so the team still has around four months at the very least to get everything finished.

The financial report itself revealed that the company’s spending had increased due toCyberpunk 2077’s development, something that isn’t too surprising. CD Projekt Red already stated that the game was ambitious. In fact, more resources are going intoCyberpunkthanthe Witcher 3, a game famous for how massive it is. On the bright side, the report did also say that CD Projekt Red’s revenue was up by 7%, so the game isn’t hurting them at all.

The game has been in development since 2012, and even though CD Projekt Red didn’t start focusing on it until it finished up withThe Witcher 3’sBlood and Wineexpansion, its been in development for seven years. Despite all that time behind it, the sheer scale ofCyberpunkstill had some fans worried that it wouldn’t make its scheduled release date. It’s not uncommon for games smaller in size to have pushbacks, so it seemed definite thatCyberpunkwould be heading down this road. CD Projekt Red itself said that it was working on a “tight deadline.” The team even cut some of the content initially planned to be in the game at its release and save it for later.

Still, CD Projekt Red has gone out of its way to try and completeCyberpunkin time. It partnered with other developers such as Digital Scapes and Nvidia and opened a new development studio to hire more people. The team working onCyberpunkis over 500 strong, twice the amount that was working onThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. There is, of course, still no guaranteed that the game will make the deadline, but barring any unexpected setbacks, it’s looking like it should. Here’s hoping that things go according to plan for both fans and the developers.

Cyberpunk 2077will be released on July 03, 2025 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
