Summary
ADestiny 2raider has demonstrated a novel new tactic for dealing with a particularly tricky section of the Salvation’s Edge raid. Salvation’s Edge is the final raid of theDestiny 2Light and Darkness Saga, and pits players against The Witness, the series' greatest villain and the source of most of the universe’s troubles.
While the latest story and gameplay developments in the ongoingDestiny 2Echoes Episodeare keeping most players busy, many are still mastering the Salvation’s Edge Raid, which opened alongsideThe Final Shape. The raid is the largest and most complex gameplay mode inDestiny 2, and Salvation’s Edge is no exception. Despite this, players continue to hammer away at the raid’s various encounters, developing and optimizing strategies that can be used to make the raid manageable for a larger and larger segment of the playerbase.

One such strategy was demonstrated byDestiny2Reddit community member Proof-Ad-1423. The strategy cleverly employs one useful trick discovered earlier to boost an entire team past a troublesome traversal challenge leading to theSalvation’s Edge final boss encounter.
Destiny 2 Rocket Leash Trick Bypasses Salvation’s Edge Jumping Puzzle
In a video inviting players to climb aboard the “Sherpa Express,” Proof-Ad-1423’s raid team employs the mobility-enhancing effects ofthe Strand subclass fromLightfallto bypass an otherwise challenging ascent up the roots and vines of a paracausal tree to The Witness. From a position standing at the base of the tree, Proof-Ad-1423 (as their in-game character, Gizmo), fires a rocket straight upwards and immediately hits it with a Strand Grapple. Meanwhile, their teammates Grapple to Gizmo directly. Gizmo’s Grapple allows him to use the rocket as an extremely fast elevator. The teammates Grappled to Gizmo ascend at a similar rate, and all fly straight up into the darkened sky, past the vast majority of traversal challenges and combat encounters to land on the stairway leading up to the final boss fight.
The rocket-grappling trick was demonstrated before by players tethering themselves to an ascending rocket, but Proof-Ad-1423’s post showed off how it could be employed by an entire team at once. Traversal challenges inDestiny 2raids can be time-consuming, as falls or unlucky timing can result in unwanted deaths and frustration. The jumping puzzle bypassed in the post comes right afterthe Salvation’s Edge Verity encounter, one of the longest and most complex encounters in the raid. The ability to sweep past another potentially tough climbing challenge could come as a relief to impatient raiders.
The trick earned praise from fellowDestiny 2players, some of whom noted the fortuitous timing of the video, which ended right as The Witness asks “Is this the chaos you so cherish.” If the reactions to the stunt are any indication,Destiny 2Guardians indeed relish the chaotic nature of mastering the raids in the most “broken” ways possible.
