Bungie has confirmed that the Root of Nightmares raid chest that grants Deepsight weapons, a secret puzzle reward, is currently bugged for someDestiny 2players. It’s unfortunately accurate to say thatDestiny 2is known for its often strange and frustrating bugs. It’s an incredibly complex online game, after all. Thankfully, the Root of Nightmares raid’s launch has been mostly smooth, otherwise. ButDestiny 2players should be aware that the secret Deepsight chest may be broken. The Deepsight chest in Root of Nightmares is a secret reward for completing a puzzle within the raid. Early in Root of Nightmares there’s a location displaying three different orbs, which can be imbued with either Light or Darkness. Players will need to find three hidden rooms later in the raid, one after each encounter, and “connect” the orbs within based on the initial order of Light and Darkness. If they do so, an extra chest will spawn afterdefeating Root of Nightmares' final bossthat grants a special Deepsight version of a raid weapon.RELATED:Destiny 2 Players Debate Whether Bungie Should Do Something It’s Never Done BeforeFollowing this week’s reset, this Deepsight chest is not working for allDestiny 2players. Bungie has confirmed thatDestiny 2players that were able to claim the Deepsight chestlast week, prior to Tuesday’s reset, will not be able to claim the rewards again. It shouldn’t be a permanent issue, but Bungie does not have a fix in place at this time.

Not everyone will be impacted by this bug, though. Those completing theRoot of Nightmares puzzlefor the first time this week should still be able to claim the Deepsight chest fine. Further, those who completed Root of Nightmares last week, but did not complete the Deepsight puzzle in their runs will be able to do so this week. At the very least, those wanting experience doing the puzzle will have been able to get rewards at least once.

It’s an unfortunate situation all around, but it isn’t altogether a major problem. TheDeepsight weaponswill allow players to craft Root of Nightmares raid weapons, but it will take weeks for players to collect every weapon. Missing a single week is disappointing but not impactful on players' power grind.

There is no confirmation regarding when Bungie will have the issue addressed. Bungie only says that it’s aware of the issue and that it will provide updates as they become available. The chest could be fixed tomorrow, next week, or much further down the road. Given that it’s akey reward for Root of Nightmares, however, Bungie will hopefully have it fixed before the next raid reset.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
