Leaks are nothing new to the world ofDestiny 2, and while it can be difficult to sift through what is real and fake, a player suggests a new piece of concept art for The Veil may support a notable leak about what may be coming with the next major expansion,The Final Shape. Despite being roughly a year out from release, leaks forThe Final Shapehave already been appearing online alongside the launch ofLightfall, offering potential information about the expansion’s new location and the possibility of returning characters. It will be some time before players know for sure if some of the leaks are true or not, but as one player suggests, clues may be hidden in plain sight in and out of the game.
The Veil has become the center of many questions inDestiny 2following the campaign ofLightfall, though few answers have been provided as of this writing. The end ofLightfall’s campaign showed the power resting below the surface of Neomuna as the Witness channeled it to open a portal on The Traveler, itself, before disappearing inside it. Bungie has teased the next year’s build toThe Final Shapewill see players learn more about the mysterious paracausal object, how it came to be on Neomuna, and its connection to The Traveler and The Witness.

While Bungie appears to be playing the proverbial long-game withThe Veil, some new pieces of concept art have at least provided players with a greater idea of the object and its unique design. It was one of these concept pieces and its description, shared byDestiny 2concept artist Dima Goryainov, which piqued the interest of Reddit user DWTSaccount. They suggested Goryainov’s description of The Veil as “a window into the mind and memory of the universe” may also be a clue a leak from notableDestiny 2leaker Liz may be legitimate, specifically about the new location coming insideThe Final Shape.
The leak from Liz hit online several days before the release ofLightfall, providing a potential outline of some of the content awaiting players the following year. It included the possible new location coming insideThe Final Shapewhich, as Liz suggests, will be located inside the portal opened by The Witness at the end ofLightfall’s campaign. Liz says this location will contain multiple landmarks to various locations from franchise history, specifically citing one of these will be a Dreadnaught landmark to commemorateThe Taken Kingexpansion.
DWTSaccount’s theory may not be unfounded, either, as the feeling among the largerDestiny 2community isThe Final Shapewill pay some tribute to the last ten years of Destiny content. Bungie’s own comments on the expansion support this as well, with the studio sayingThe Final Shapewill mark the end of theLight and Darkness Sagawhich began with the launch ofDestinyin 2014. All this remains speculative for the time being, though, and it will be some time before players know for sure whether any of these leaks turn out to be true or red herrings.
