Things took a dark turn this week inDestiny 2. Following the reset on Tuesday, players loaded into the Tower as normal only to discover that things were very much not normal. The Taken, likelyled by the corrupted Vex Hivemind Quria, have managed to cause Blights to appear all over the Tower. Hilariously, the NPCs there don’t seem to have taken much notice, still going about their normal routines and dialogue.

As Season of the Splicer reaches the halfway point,Bungie also sent out mysterious care packagesto certain content creators. Images started appearing online earlier this week of these boxes which came with Koss Porta Pro headphones, an ultraviolet flashlight, light-up display with theDestinytricorn logo, as well as a cassette tape and player. There was also a mysterious card included that revealed a cryptic message when used in combination with the UV flashlight.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Cerberus +1

Nezarec’s Sin - Warlock helmet

The Voidwalker specific helm Nezarec’s Sin is once again available from the exotic merchant. It’s intrinsic perk is known asAbyssal Extractors, a void specific ability that should make Voidwalker Warlocks very happy. Essentially, any void damage kills increase ability energy recharge rate. It remains a solid pickup for Warlocks.

For those curious, this itempairs well not only with Voidwalkers, but many strong void-centric weapons currently in the game like the Hammerhead machine gun, Gnawing Hunger auto rifle, and Recluse submachine gun. What makes this gear extremely valuable this week is the absurdly high stat roll totaling 68. While the resilience is unfortunately low, this gear is worth grabbing thanks to everything else.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Raiden Flux - Hunter chest armor

The Raiden Flux exotic chest piece comes with the perk Synapse Junctions which buffsArcstrider staff damageand duration when chaining moves together. To really maximize the return this exotic provides, its recommended that Hunters perform the light hit, light hit, heavy hit combo attack.

This is arguably the best exotic gear for Arcstrider Hunters and is absolutely recommended for players who like to run this subclass. The damage increase is substantial against all types of enemies and the added duration is extremely helpful.

Crest of Alpha Lupi - Titan chest armor

After being on sale at the start of the month, Xur is bringing back the Crest of Alpha Lupi to cap off the month. This Titan armor comes with with the Survival Well perk. Essentially, when Barricade is active, the armor will generate 1 additional Orb of Light from supers as well as a healing pulse.

This is more of a defensive item so it has more value when tackling challenging content thanks to its healing pulse and orb generation abilities. When low on health, the Titan can put up a barricade for protection which then procs a healing burst to instantly gain health back. This gear is viable in all aspects ofDestiny 2, though it really shines in activities like The Ordeal, Dungeons, and even Master andGrandmaster difficulty content. The roll is pretty solid as well, even if Strength is low.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

Exotic Weapon

Originallyintroduced inside of the Forsaken expansion, the Cerberus+1 is an auto rifle that acts more like a shotgun. The reason for this is due to its intrinsic perk called Four-Headed Dog which causes the gun to shoot erratic bullets from all four gun barrels when fired. However, the players gains a bit more control over where these shots go thanks to its exotic trait, Spread Shot Package. Aiming the weapon reduces the projectile spread.

For most players, the Cerberus is a fun weapon to play around with, though it behaves more like a fully automatic shotgun using primary ammo. As expected, this weapon is not accurate at range, but is more than capable at shredding enemies who get too close. In the game’s current meta, this isn’t a required weapon to own, but it’s fun to mess around with, especially when clearing large groups of enemies.
