In a new video, anElden Ringplayer gets disrespected after their own death by a Clean Rot Knight. There are several recurring enemies and bosses inElden Ring, such as the Crucible Knights, the Magma Wyrms, and the Fallingstar Beasts. Some boss enemies even turn into regular enemies in later parts of the game. While death is quite common inElden Ring, and often expected from players, what is not expected is for an enemy to disrespect players after they kill them, but that’s exactly what happened to this player in their fight against the recurring Clean Rot Knight.
While players ofElden Ringand veterans of theSoulsseries often debatethe difficulty ofElden Ringand if an “easy mode” is necessary, most seem to agree that if a player dies, it is usually their fault. Maybe the gamer messed up a mechanic, maybe they got overly greedy and didn’t respect the enemies or bosses and their abilities, but rarely doesElden Ringor any of theSoulsgames straight up disrespect the player upon their death. However, it happened to one unfortunate player in the Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree portion of the infamous Miquella’s Haligtree dungeon.

In a video posted to Reddit by user Ponchezied, the unfortunate player seems to be doing well at first, backstabbing their way through an enemy, when suddenly, the player is bombarded by magic attacks with their back turned. When the player turns around, they are ambushed by a Clean Rot Knight, who can be encountered much earlier in the game as a boss fight in Stillwater Cave in theLiurnia of the Lakes area inElden Ring. At this point, though, the knight is a normal recurring enemy, and the player gets destroyed by an onslaught of magic attacks. But that’s not where the disrespect comes from. The knight then decides to vomit on the player after they are already dead.
The attack the Clean Rot Knight uses in its taunt to this one player after it has already won is fittingly called the Scarlet Bile. The attack normally covers a wide area and inflicts the scarlet rot status aliment to the player and leaves a pool of vomit behind, so the player is forced to avoid it again. Scarlet rot is one of the more dangerousstatus effects inElden Ringand can be stacked with other status effectsas well.
The video is an amusing way to laugh off a death in the game.Whether a player gets beat in a PvP duel by a real-life person, gets outplayed by the game itself, orfalls to death while farming for runes inElden Ring, death is going to happen in the game, and sometimes, the game might just disrespect the players back if it is disrespected.
Elden Ringis available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
