Beyond the ambition of the game design,Elden Ringtruly excels in its stunning art direction which lends The Lands Between an ethereal beauty, despite the danger they present. One impressive creation comes from user Frostdice66 on Reddit, who shares their beautifulElden Ringlive wallpaper which adapts an official piece of key art for the game. The wallpaper depicts the Tarnished and their maiden, Melina, sitting at a site of grace in a field before a minor Erdtree. Frostdice takes the still image and adds flare by inserting flecks of dust rising from the ground and animating the pulsating, soft movements of the grace. Perhaps the most startlingly beautiful aspect of the wallpaper is the night sky, which is now in full motion, giving the illusion of a revolving world. Moreover, the sky is alive with plenty of shooting stars streaking across the deep blue, which contrasts perfectly withthe stark gold of the towering Erdtree.
Stars and moonlight play a huge role in the lore ofElden Ring, particularly for players whofollow Ranni the Witch’s questline to completion. According to the game’s lore, the order of the Dark Moon presides over the primeval power of the stars, and they serve as the chaotic antithesis to the order of the Greater Will which guides the player throughout most of the game via the Two Fingers and the Erdtree. This transformative wallpaper manages to capture the divisive elements of The Lands Between and the conflicting cosmic powers which strive to rule over them.
The demigod Starscourge Radahn conquered the stars with the power of gravity itself, locking them into place and prohibiting their true power. Upon his defeat, the stars will resume their orbit of The Lands Between and a falling star will blast open the path to Nokron, The Eternal City. In the cutscene that follows, players can see hundreds of stars shooting across the sky in a breathtaking event before one crashes down in a blinding flash. With this live wallpaper, players can relive this moment and marvel atElden Ring’s bizarrely beautiful vistaswith each computer launch.
Elden Ringis now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
