When talking about its gloomy caves and dungeons,Elden Ringis nothing short of a horror game. Fortunately, FromSoftware cares for its player base and has included special tools to brighten areas shrouded in darkness common across all Soulsborne games. As the biggest Souls game, there are many dark pitch nooks and crannies to discoverin The Lands BetweenofElden Ring.

For illuminating dark corners, a selection of light sources is at the players' disposal, spanning from the Starlight spell to an array of torch options. However, none compares to the ease of use provided by aLantern. It can be equipped to their waistline to illuminate surrounding areas. Furthermore, Lanterns can be purchased and obtained quite early in the Tarnished’s journey through the Lands Between inElden Ring.

Elden Ring Weeping Peninsula Isolated Merchant

Lantern Locations

InElden Ring, players can acquire aLantern for 1,800 runesfromtwo merchants: one situated in southwest coast of Weeping Peninsula, and the other in Liurnia of the Lakes. Both merchants are accessible in the open world and are not locked behind any boss fights. Here’s how to reach each of the merchants:

First Lantern Location

For players who are just starting, the nearest Lantern merchant is situated on thesouthwestern coast of Weeping Peninsula, within the Isolated Merchant’s Shack. To reach this shack, start your journey by going south from The First Step site of grace’s location until you reach the Agheel Lake South site of grace.

From there, continue following the path going south to arrive at the Bridge of Sacrifice, the entrance to Weeping Peninsula. After entering Weeping Peninsula, keep heading south to find Castle Morne Rampart site of grace. Now, make a U-turn to find two diverging paths. Take the path going to the west side of Weeping Peninsula.

Elden Ring Liurnia Nomadic Merchant

Proceed past the Ailing Village Outskirts site of grace and cross the bridge to enter the western Weeping Peninsula. From there, simply head to the western coast and proceed south to discover a secluded shack with an Isolated Merchant. In addition to the Lantern, players can purchase aZweihander (the lightest Colossal sword), three Stonesword Keys, one Losh Ashes of War, and various other useful items.

Second Lantern Location

InElden Ring, a second Lantern can be purchased from theNomadic Merchant near the Liurnia Lake Shoresite of grace. It is identical to the Lantern sold by the Isolated Merchant in Weeping Peninsula, providing an alternative method for players to secure this valuable tool, especially for those skipping Weeping Peninsula. While most players enter Liurnia after defeating Godrick The Grafted, there is a shortcut to reach Liurnia of the Lakes and purchase the Lantern.

There are two ways to reach the Lantern-selling merchant in Liurnia. Players who have defeated Godrick The Grafted can enter the Throne Room and leave through its exit to find Lake-Facing Cliffs site of grace and mark their entry toLiurnia of the Lakes. From there, follow the western path going downhill to reach the Liurnia Lake Shore site of grace. The Nomadic Merchant is located just in front of the grace site.

Players who haven’t defeated Godrick will have to take an alternate route. Head north from the Stormhill Shack to find a broken bridge. At the end of the broken bridge, carefully go down to find a path going besides the Stormhill Castle. Following this cliffside path will take you to the Lake-Facing Cliffs site of grace. Then, simply continue down the western path to find the Nomadic Merchant and purchase the Lantern.
