Summary

A new job posting suggests that the nextBattlefieldgame is focusing on the franchise’s classic destruction feature. The previousBattlefieldgame,Battlefield 2042, was criticized by some fans for taking a step back in this regard.

There are many reasons thatBattlefieldbecame a popular franchise over the years, including its large-scale combat, fluid gameplay, and array of usable vehicles. But one of the most impressive features inBattlefieldgames has usually been its destruction, which allows players to modify the landscape by destroying buildings and other structures that react to how the player carries out this destruction. WhileBattlefield 2042still included destruction, many users felt the game regressed in this regard due to many of the game’s core maps featuring limited opportunities to utilize this feature. This was one of the reasonsBattlefield 2042became one of themost disappointing games of 2021, but it seems that the nextBattlefieldgame is taking a much different approach.

Tech4Gamers reportedthat Ripple Effect, one of the studios that works onBattlefield, posteda job opening for a VFX director. The posting explains that Ripple Effect is looking for a “Senior 3D Artist to help us create the most realistic and exciting destruction effects in the industry.” The studio has previously been confirmed to be working on a “newBattlefieldexperience,” which is possibly part of the next mainlineBattlefieldgame. Ripple Effect, formerly known as DICE LA, created the remastered maps that were added toBattlefield 2042’s Portal. These maps featured more destruction than the game’s core maps. It seems that going into the future, theBattlefieldfranchise is refocusing on one of its most famous features.

Back in August,EA teased the nextBattlefieldgameby explaining that it’s a “reimagining” that will feature a connected ecosystem. According to leaks, there are three studios working on the game, with EA DICE focusing on the game’s core multiplayer mode. So it’s possible that Ripple Effect is developing some sort of secondary mode for the newBattlefield. However, this is just speculation.
