Summary

An unluckyFallout 4player has been robbed by one of the game’s many bugs and glitches, losing access to their valued suit of Power Armor. The glitch occurred following the conclusion of aFallout 4side quest, this time taking place in one of the Commonwealth’s unique spots: The U.S.S.Constitutionwarship.

Fallout 4’s rendition of the Boston area and its surroundings is one of the more evocative game settings around. Thanks to thealternate history posited in theFalloutseries, most of the United States is rendered almost unrecognizable, thanks to both the nuclear war that ended much of civilization and the retro-futuristic state of society and technology of theFalloutsetting. That said, many key landmarks of the area are still found, including the U.S.S.Constitution,a wooden-hulled frigate of the 18th-century United States Navy. In real life, the ship serves as the oldest commissioned U.S. Navy vessel, and is stationed in Boston Harbor as a floating museum.

InFallout 4, the ship is the centerpiece of the side quest “The Last Voyage of the U.S.S. Constitution.” However, it was the conclusion of this quest that ended up robbing Reddit user AnnoyingTruckDump of their hard-earned Power Armor.

Fallout 4 Player Loses Their Power Armor to the USS Constitution

AnnoyingTruckDump shared a screenshot from in-game showing their Power Armor floating high in the air, without support. They said that the ship “flew away,” leaving the armor suspended in mid-air, with no way to access it. The “flight” referred to is the result of taking a certain path during the side quest involving the ship, which causes it to relocate as soon as the player debarks. Unfortunately for AnnoyingTruckDump, the ship did not take their armor along for the ride when it moved. Given how rare and strong someFallout 4Power Armor suitscan be, the loss of the suit to the forces of wonky physics could have been disastrous.

Luckily, AnnoyingTruckDump found a different, fully equipped suit of Power Armor elsewhere. Amused players suggest that they simply leave the armor floating in the air and worship it as a new god. Others mentioned theFallout 4console commands, the use of which would allow AnnoyingTruckDump (or a player in a similar situation) to simply fly up and reclaim the suit. Still others mentioned the potential of using the newly-acquired suit of Power Armor, equipping it with a jetpack, and using it to fly to the suspended suit without having to resort to cheats.
