Summary
After spending over 200 hours inFallout 4, one player realized that there’s a way to be rude when skipping dialogue in conversations with NPCs. DespiteFallout 4’s age, it seems there are still some functions and secrets in the title that some fans haven’t discovered.
Fallout 4has been popular ever since it was first announced, but it’s seeing a resurgence right now. Therelease of theFalloutTV seriesfrom Amazon Prime Video has introduced some people to the series for the first time, while others are taking the opportunity to revisit the games. It seems that even for those who have spent hundreds of hours in the game, there are still some details that have gone unnoticed.

Fallout 4player Evanz111 revealed that after playing the game for over 200 hours, they noticed that there’s a way to make the main character interrupt conversations in a rude way. Doing so can be accomplished by hitting the O/B button, or the right arrow key on keyboard for PC players. The responses vary depending upon who the player is talking to, but include some amusing insults and a generally annoyed-sounding MC.
It seems that they’re not the only player just now discovering this, as at least a few others voiced surprise at the realization. Others pointed out that responses can vary depending on the player’s actions, as well. For example, adrunk Sole Survivorresponds differently, slurring their words and generally stumbling verbally in their dialogue skips. Taking certain chems can also impact the way that the MC acts when skipping dialogue.
Fallout 4’s Voiced Protagonist Changed Things
This is just one of countless details that Bethesda has put inFallout 4. Unlike most of the developer’s other main RPG entries likeElder Scrolls,Starfield, and the remainder of theFalloutseries, though,Fallout 4has a voiced protagonist. The choice came as a bit of a surprise toFalloutfans when the game was first revealed, but it’s clear that Bethesda considered the opportunities that were created by this choice. Unfortunately, while these responses offer a bit of amusement for the player, they don’t have any real impact on gameplay, much to some fans' chagrin in the comments.
WithStarfieldreturning to a silent main character, it’s possible that future Bethesda RPGs may not feature this option. However, it’s all but certain that future Bethesda games will have their own secrets to discover after hundreds of hours of gameplay.
