Summary
Final Fantasy 14has released Patch 7.01, adding the opening tier of the Arcadion raid series to the game along with some Job balance updates and fixes to some outstanding issues. Out of all the Jobs that can reach level 100 inFinal Fantasy 14, the Monk received the most attention in the form of buffs and adjustments made in response to player feedback.
The release of Patch 7.01 arrived two weeks after the full release ofDawntrail, the fifth expansion forFinal Fantasy 14. WhileDawntraildid not have the login queue issues that marred the launch ofEndwalker, the expansion was not a flawless experience. Memory fragmentation bugs hindered Xbox Series X/S players from experiencing the first few days ofDawntrail’s launch. Due to the severity of the issues,Final Fantasy 14producer and director Naoki Yoshida said thatall players would be compensatedwith at least two days of game time, with Xbox players receiving up to ten days.

Final Fantasy 14periodically releases content updates to fix any lingering bugs while giving players more content to engage with, and Patch 7.01 is no exception. According toa Lodestone post, Patch 7.01 saw the release of the Arcadion,Dawntrail’s 8-player raid series. Dubbed the “AAC Light-Heavyweight” tier, the first four rounds of the Arcadion are now available on Normal difficulty for players to challenge. In place of gear, armor tokens will drop from each round that players can earn once per week. These tokens can be redeemed for corresponding armor and accessories based on the player’s Job and role. Patch 7.01 also sawsome Job balance updates. To start, the Black Mage’s Umbral Soul is now available starting at level 35, Tank enmity generation was increased during their area-of-effect combos, and Astrologian, Samurai, and Red Mage players will notice some cooldown adjustments.
However, the Monk was the Job that received the most attention inFinal Fantasy 14’s new update. In response to player feedback, a majority of the Monk’s skills were buffed, which should make the punchy melee DPS more competitive with its peers. The Beast Chakra gauge was also streamlined to match the changes made to Raptor’s Fury and Coeurl’s Fury, as the stacks of each buff were reduced. Despite these changes, Patch 7.05 will bring even more alterations toJobs such as the Viperand the Black Mage. The latter update goes live on July 30.
In between this and the upcoming Patch 7.05,Final Fantasy 14will also implement a fix on July 23 for theongoing Visa debit card issues. All in all, players can expect plenty of additionalDawntrailcontent throughout the summer and beyond.
