The continuous evolution ofFortniteincludes the ever-changing meta of the game’s structure. It seems thatFortnitewill evolve in higher forms of combat every week through the weapons and items available in the loot pool.Fortnite’s Chapter 3, Season 4 continues the trendof removing some great and not-so-great weapons and items from the loot pool.

WhenFortnitedecides that an item needs to go, it enters the Vault. “Vaulting” means that a weapon or item is kept out of the loot pool, but nothing stops it from returning in the later weeks or different seasons.Fortnite’s latest chapter is the most recent change of the meta, and here’s what it’s brought.

fortnite item port-a-fort

10Port-A-Fort

Many fans rejoiced and returned toFortniteonce the game introduced its fairly new “no-build” mode. This battle royale variant was the same as the classic that made it famous, but without the need to build. This mode came under fire when the Port-A-Fort was released into no-build games, as it meant players could give themselves a metal high ground just by throwing an item at their feet.

Since the start of Chapter 3, Season 4, the port-a-fort has been vaulted. Players won’t need to worry about an enemy being 4 tiles above them, in a threatening metal structure. Still, they shouldwatch out for creeping chrome.

9Revolver

For a few seasons, the revolver has managed to remain quite the threat. As well as looking cool and intimidating, due to its bulky size and stopping power, the revolver can cause quite a bit of damage at quite a great distance. With the release ofFortniteChapter 3, Season 4, the revolver is one of the weapons to enter the Vault. Perhaps thecreeping chromewill be a threat to the Vault.

The revolver has seen many alterations in both design and power inFortnite, but now, the weapon rests until it is called upon again. It was a fairly decent gun, with a low rate of fire, but a powerful amount of damage for its range.

8Auto Shotgun

Fully automatic, the auto shotgun had a moderate amount of damage and a high fire rate. There was a lot to love about the auto shotgun, and it wouldn’t be uncommon to say that it was a fairlypopular choice amongst gamersthat sought the victory royale onFortnite’s island. This comes from the ease of accessibility. Recoil was low, the rate of fire was fast, and eliminations were plenty.

The range on the auto shotgun was also fairly average, providing damage that can hit for around 75 to 92 per shot, with a headshot multiplayer of 1.5x. The damage cap was 145, meaning that two clean headshots could finish off an opponent without an issue.

7Striker Pump Shotgun

Fans of the originalFortniteknow of the great sin and evil damage that the “double pump” method could do. Since this was patched out of the game, the pump shotgun has been a shell of its former power. The striker pump shotgun is a variation on the original, with a slick new design and a tendency for tight spreads.

It’s a fairly accurate shotgun, but the fire rate is slow. However, this slow rate of fire should not deter, as a headshot with this weapon can reach a damage cap of 185. Although, players won’t need to worry about getting eliminated with this weapon, as it hassince returned to the Vaultas of the first week of Chapter 3, Season 4.

6Two-Shot Shotgun

To compensate for the lack of a “double pump,”Fortnitecreated the two-shot shotgun. This weapon was essentially a pump shotgun, which fired as a two-shot burst. The weapon was fairly dangerous, but like the other shotguns, was Vaulted at the beginning of Chapter 3, Season 4.

The two-shot shotgun had a lot of potentials, as well as a lot of inconsistencies. The recoil was very high, and the rate of fire for the two shots fired made it so that getting a double headshot was rather difficult. The reward would grant a 1.75x multiplayer to damage. However, the time between bursts was unkind, leaving players open and vulnerable to attack.

5Charge SMG

Introduced in the season prior, the charge SMG has only lasted a season. This divisive weapon saw celebrations and sadness across theFortnitecommunity upon its placement in the Vault. As an SMG, it was contradicting its design by needing to be charged up. However, the complete lack of recoil and intense speed made it deadly when those encountered it properly.

SMGs have rather changed theFortnitemeta, due to their high rate of fire and being able to outshoot enemies with shotguns. This is thanks to the consistent headshot damage, and the charge SMG was capable of that.

4Stinger SMG

With an incredible rate of fire, this fully automatic SMG eats through ammo just as it eats through the shields and health of enemy players. The stinger SMG was a true threat to the game and lacked a lot of spread. The gun could be fired accurately, hitting a target for every shot at medium and close range.

With the newestFortniteseason, the stinger SMG has been placed in the Vault. Many may be happy with this decision; due to thetrouble that this weapon causes on the battlefield. Others, though, may be wishing the weapon a return as fast as its rate of fire.

3Striker Burst Rifle

As one of the first assault rifles inFortniteto feature a first-person perspective, the striker burst rifle could change the game ofFortnitedue to using the perspective mode to get into the head cover. The scope was greatly powerful and meant that long rage battles with little bullet drop-offs would make for some interesting fights.

The recoil of the weapon can be tamed, and the two-shot burst was rather quick, meaning players would not need to wait long before unleashing a fire of bulletsonto theFortniteisland. The striker burst rifle was unique and has since been Vaulted.

2Heavy Sniper Rifle

Players would feel the power of this weapon whenever they encountered someone hiding in a building. The heavy sniper rifle was capable of destroying walls, stairs, and any other objects that may be halting the weapon fromenjoying another elimination. It’s a great threat, that has since been placed in the Vault for a less superior sniper rifle.

The heavy sniper rifle was extremely powerful and accurate, with only one bullet per magazine. The gun had to be reloaded after every shot, which could take up to four seconds. Every shot needs to count with this sniper, and it feels great doing so.

1Grapple Gloves

If players missed out on the opportunity to swing around theFortniteisland with Spider-Man’s web shooters, then they were given a similar experience last season thanks to the grapple gloves. This miscellaneous item could be found in toolboxes at the pink grapple stops, but sadly, not anymore.

The movement of the grapple gloves was a lot of fun, as players needed to attach to surfaces to swing and build momentum for some intense speeds. However, if players are shot whilst in the air, the tether will break, and they would fall to their deaths.
