Halloween is still two months away, but Epic Games no doubt already has itsFortniteplans for the holiday already laid out in advance. Last year, it rana Fortnitemares eventwhich added new skins, made some spooky changes to the battle royale map, and even had some new lore by bringing back Midas, or rather Shadow Midas, as a boss fight. This year’s plans, however, appear to have been leaked online and, rather than repeat the Fortnitemares event, it sounds like Epic is bringing back content from the year before.
This information was shared on Twitter by HYPEX, a regularFortnitedataminer and leaker who is considered a reputable source of information. They have accurately leaked details about the game several times before (most recently, they had shared details aboutthe Wonder Woman skinbefore Epic officially announced it), so it’s safe to assume that their intel is correct. Specifically, that Epic is bringing back the Horde Rush limited-time mode.

As a reminder, Horde Rush is pretty much what it says on the tin. Players must survive several rounds against a stream of enemies while scoring as many points as possible, culminating in a boss fight. Funnily enough, this event was temporarily available in 2019 for six days, but during June and not October. If Epic is bringing it back toFortnitefor Halloween, this must mean that it intends to give it something of an aesthetic makeover to fit the holiday.
Judging by HYPEX’s description of the event, this year’sHorde Rush modesounds more-or-less the same as the previous one. Score multipliers can be picked up during phases to further increase points earned, and picking one up will even destroy any surrounding enemies. Enemies will be zombies this time and they have unique abilities of their own depending on their color (e.g. green ones leave behind a poisonous cloud when they’re defeated).
And once again, there will be a final boss at the end. However, HYPEX doesn’t share what the boss is so it could be completely different from last time. It’s also unknown how long the mode will last. With it still being described as a limited-time mode, it probably won’t become a permanent fixture and, for the time being, it can be assumed that it will only last for six days again.
This isn’t the onlyFortnite-relatedthing to have leaked recently. Only last week, HYPEX shared teaser images for what is presumed to bean open-worldFortniteRPG spin-off. At the very least, Epic is believed to be planning a separate sandbox mode for the game as it had mentioned working on something like this during its lawsuit against Apple.
