FortniteChapter 3, Season 4 has officially begun, which, among plenty of other things, introduces the new Slide Kick mechanic to the game. The new ability does exactly as it’s titled: it enables players to kick their opponents by sliding into them.
First introduced during Chapter 3, Season 1,Fortnite’s sliding movement abilityallows players to slide on their legs down any sloped surface, greatly increasing movement speed. Chapter 3 Season 4 is expanding upon this feature, now adding a knockback capability in the form of the Slide Kick.

How to Slide Kick in Fortnite
While new moves or mechanics usually mean another specific input to remember,Fortnite’s Slide Kick, fortunately, does not take any extra knowledge.To Slide Kick,Fortniteplayers can simply slide like they normally do, as the new feature has been tacked on to sliding in general.
To slide/Slide Kick, console players must click the right stick while running – PC players can use left Ctrl. This means that players can rush down their opponents and aim to knock them off their position, making the surrounding terrain all the more crucial.
The new Slide Kick ability should prove especially interesting withFortnite’snew chrome-filled season. Chapter 3, Season 4 introduces anew item called Chrome Splash, a throwable item that allows users to phase through any buildable surfaces.
Chrome Splash can also be self-used, enhancing speed, negating fall damage, and granting an air dash, which can be used to Chrome-ify buildings as if the item were thrown. Players can use this in tandem with the Slide Kick to really catch others off-guard and should be exciting to see implemented in high-level play.
Epic Games' immensely popular battle royale title has been steadily making players' movement ability more dynamic over the past several seasons of Chapter 3. After adding the slide mechanic in Season 1, Season 2 brought thetactical sprint and mantle abilities toFortnite,letting players cover distances and scale buildings much more quickly and easily. It’ll be interesting to see just how strong the Slide Kick is and if speed and velocity have any sort of impact on its efficacy.
