Less than a day remains until the longest season ofFortniteto date finally concludes andSeason 2 ofFortniteChapter 2begins, and yet even now there is little that is officially known about the new things it will add to the game. For the most part, Epic Games has intentionally kept things vague and mysterious, but that hasn’t stopped fans hungry for new content from uncovering some more concrete hints in its teases.
These teases have been coming in hard and fast this week. In addition toreal-world ads that have been popping upall across the globe, Epic has been releasing a constant stream of mysterious gold-themed images on theFortniteTwitter page over the last couple of days. While none of these explicitly detail anything about Season 2, a bit of sleuthing on players’ part has confirmed that these images reveal more than they seem to at first glance.

One such discovery, as shared by dataminer HYPEX, looks like it clears up some of the mystery behind the“oil rig operation” mentioned in some ofFortnite’s real-world ads. Specifically, it’s believed that the oil rig at the heart of this operation will appear near Slurpy Swamp. HYPEX came to this conclusion by taking the piece of map on one of Epic’s Twitter teasers, which contains what appears to be an oil rig, and superimposing it ontoFortnite’s map, revealing how it perfectly matches up with the coastal area just west of Slurpy Swamp. However it’s added, the fact that the teaser image shows a bomb pointed towards the area in question suggests it’s going to be explosive.
HYPEX also shared a clue hinting towards another new location in one of the other teaser images. The image depicts a golden face covered up by a skull mask, behind which is a seemingly empty black background. However, players discovered that raising the brightness on the image reveals the background is actually a screenshot of a fairly large new building. Although the golden face covers up most of it, HYPEX was able to recognize enough of the surrounding landscape to pinpoint the building’s location to the island in the center ofFortniteChapter 2’s map.
At the moment, these are the clues that players have found, but there’s likely more waiting to be found in the other images Epic has released. With Season 2 set to go live tomorrow, though, it remains to be seen if players can find them before the content they’re teasing is officially revealed.
