The awesome fan art replicates the details ofSonic Adventure 2: Battle’s cover, including its many iconic characters. WhileSonic Adventure 2was released in June 2001 for the Sega Dreamcast, an enhanced GameCube version came out a few months later. Utilizing the hardware of the Nintendo system, this version of the game included enhanced visuals and overhauled multiplayer, hence the new title. In addition, theChao systemreceived changes over the Dreamcast version. These alterations madeSonic Adventure 2: Battlethe preferred way to play the game for someSonicfans. Recently, one gamer paid tribute to the classic game in a piece of custom artwork.
In a post on Twitter, a user known as Pigminted shared a short video of their recentSonic Adventure 2: Battlewood carving. Impressively, the creator captured the box art in incredible detail, including the many characters in the game. A layered look was used for the wood carving, helping Sonic and Shadow pop from the cover art. In addition, popular characters like Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Eggman were recreated on the cover, along with the game logo. Adding to the effect, Pigminted appeared to use wood stain to make the artwork feel more authentic.

Beyond the front of the cover, the artist included a detailed carving on the back. This artwork featured Sonic and Shadow, along with a couple of Chaos. The side of the box also had several small details, including the game’s name and theNintendo GameCube console logo. Since sharing the brief video of the artwork, numerous fans have applauded Pigminted’s efforts, with the post gaining hundreds of likes.
Even though thisSonic Adventure 2: Battlebox art is impressive, it is only one of the many custom wood carvings made by Pigminted. On their social media, the artist has shared numerous other pieces of wood art. For example, they have previously madewoodcarvings based onThe Legend of Zeldaseries,Diablo 4, andFinal Fantasygames, to name a few. Most recently, they finished a wood-carved version of a card from Blizzard’sHearthstone.
As talented fans continue to make impressive artwork based on theSonic the Hedgehogfranchise, official projects are also in the pipeline for the Blue Blur. Specifically, a Paramount Plus show featuring Knuckles is coming this summer, followed by a new movie,Sonic the Hedgehog 3, this December. In addition, existing games continue to get updates, such asSonic Superstarsadding a new costume for Amy.
