Emilie has had an interesting history behind the scenes inGenshin Impact, as many reliable sources weren’t even sure if she’d end up in Version 4.8 up until the eve of her drip marketing. Numerous concept art of Emilie emerged during the initial Fontaine leak flood, and neither one of them ended up being indicative of her final design.
However, players knew for a long time thatEmilie inGenshin Impactwould offer a new take on Burning as an Elemental Reaction. As a Dendro 5-Star, she is designed to deal massive amounts of Dendro damage through constantly triggering Burning on surrounding enemies with her Elemental Skill. Her passive reduces the damage that party members can receive from Burning by 85%, which circumvents one of its biggest downsides as an Elemental Reaction.
The combat animations for Emilie wereprovided by Team Mewand shared on theGenshin ImpactLeaks subreddit, showcasing Emilie’s Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst. Emilie wields a polearm, and though her attack chain is simple, it is also remarkably elegant. Her Signature Weapon resembles an enchanted staff rather than a standard spear, which suits her character and visual design. She will feature on the Event Banners forVersion 4.8 ofGenshin Impact, and she is also expected to have a prominent role in the Flagship Event of the patch.
As is usually the case withnew 5-Star characters inGenshin Impact, Emilie will also have a Story Quest in Version 4.8. She has previously been mentioned by other characters from Fontaine as a renowned perfume designer, and it’s quite likely that her first Chapter will explore that further. Like Ayaka, Emilie uses a medium female model. Unlike Ayaka, her gameplay is more reminiscent of Fischl, as her Elemental Skill drops a stationary turret that deals Dendro damage, whereas her Elemental Burst allows Emilie to reposition it.
How Emilie Might Fit the Meta in Genshin Impact
In terms of how Emilie might fit the meta inGenshin Impact, many players suspect that she will have more synergy with theupcoming characters of Natlanrather than the existing Fontaine cast. However, thanks to her passive talent, Emilie might end up doing well with Wriothesley or Arlecchino, as her damage potential will further be increased thanks to the new Artifact Set from Version 4.6. Players can expect Emilie’s debut on July 11, 2025 – assuming she ends up on the first half of the Event Banners in Version 4.8.
