The Game Awards launched its very ownFortnitemap where players can vote for the best custom island of the year. This limited-time promo debuted shortly after theannouncement of The Game Awards 2023 nominees.
Fortnitehas been a frequent honoree at The Game Awards, having secured 16 TGA nominations in total since its 2017 release. Three of those resulted in accolades, starting with the 2018 edition of the show that sawFortnitewin in the Best Multiplayer Game and Best Ongoing Game categories. It also seized the latter award in 2019. And whileFortniteoccasionally also participated in The Game Awards beyond the honorifics, never before has the show featured in the game itself.
That all changes with the arrival ofThe Game Awards Vote in Fortnite, a newly introduced custom map that allows players to vote for the best fan-made island of the year. The award itself is separate from the main TGA categories, which some might feel makes it less prestigious. However, the best island vote will also apparently be entirely community-driven. Players can access the TGA voting island by usingFortniteCreative 2.0 map code0853-1358-8532.
TheFortnitemap, created in partnership with Studio 568 and Nighttimes Inc., contains a portal to ten islands nominated in this community category. Aside from allowing fans to pick their favorite map, the level also contains 28 The Game Awards statues that players can collect for some extra XP. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, TGA organizer Geoff Keighley said that this unique promotion has been years in the making, and is intended to lead to more similarly inventive undertakings in the future.

Keighley himself can actually be found on the island as an NPC, standing on some rock pillars immediately opposite the starting spot. Some fans have already taken to social media to call for this character to be added to the ever-growing list ofFortniteskins. A hologram of a real-life Keighley will greet the players when they first enter the map, explaining what this custom TGA island is all about.
Epic’s battle royale hit was already guaranteed to make an appearance at The Game Awards 2023 even before this unique island promo was unveiled. Namely,Fortnitehas once again been nominated in the Best Ongoing Game category for this year’s edition of the show, along withApex Legends,Cyberpunk 2077,Final Fantasy 14, andGenshin Impact. Fans hoping to see the game secure the award can cast their vote for it on the official TGA website until December 6, at 6 PM PT. Community support of this sort will influence 10% of the game’s blended vote, while an international voting jury will account for the remaining 90%.
