Ever since Netflix’s adaptation ofThe Witcherwas released, the Internet has been obsessed with Henry Cavill’s monster hunting exploits as Geralt of Rivia. Some fans have considered how much more effective he would be wielding iconic objects from across popular culture likethe One Ring to rule them all, but Reddit user scanlonzack took things a step further by visualizing Geralt’s skill wielding a lightsaber fromStar Wars.

In a video posted to the r/witcher subreddit on July 13, 2025, scanlonzack mixes sci-fi and fantasy by creating an edit ofThe Witcher’s battle in Blaviken where each blade has been replaced by lightsaber beams (blue for Geralt and red for his opponents, of course).

While scanlonzack admits the editing is “abit [sic] janky” in the title, which is to be expected for fan alterations of a fast-paced action scene that they say took only a day and a half to make in the comments, there is polish where it counts. The real-time lightsaber whirring sound as people strike is a particularly nice touch.

The fight scene in Blaviken that scanlonzack grafted his lightsaber combat onto is well-regarded by fans. Just earlier today Netflix released a video of Cavill running through it shot by shot to explain his character’s thought processes and some behind-the-scene bits about its production:

Cavill says that deflecting a crossbow bolt is a skill only a Witcher could possess. However, it fits right at home in the space-faring universe ofStar Warswhere Jedi constantly deflect laser blasts from Stormtroopers and Droids alike; something fans are intimately familiar with thanks to recent games likeStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Though the Netflix-produced video is ultimately a marketing stunt, it’s fascinating to hear Cavill’s take on the scene that fans like scanlonzack have run with. Especially given how in-tuned Cavill has been withThe Witcher’s fanbase asseason two has gone into production.

That said, season two production is currently in full swing forThe Witcher. Other characters who have made major impacts in the original Polish novels such asSigismund Dijkstra, the head of Redanian Intelligence, are currently being cast.

Hopefully fleshing out the fantastical world this now hugely-popular multimedia franchise is set in will provide plenty more opportunities for fans to let their imaginations run wild and create other crazy crossover videos. With shooting locations likeScotland and the Czech Republicon the show’s docket, there should be plenty of beautiful backdrops to make some new jaw-dropping battles.

The Witcheris available to stream now, exclusively on Netflix.
