Since theGod of Warfranchise is so popular, it’s no surprise that Kratos has popped up elsewhere from time to time.Kratosis a PlayStation 3 exclusive DLC fighter forMortal Kombat 9, and he also appeared in 2012’sPlayStation All-Stars Battle Royaleas a key member of that game’s roster. For those who may not rememberPlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, it was essentially the PlayStation-equivalent ofSuper Smash Bros. with a roster of PlayStation characters and recognizable combatants from third-party franchises.

A reference toPlayStation All-Stars Battle Royalecan be found inGod of War Ragnarokthat basically makes the bizarre fighting game canon. While out exploring, Mimir brings up Kratos' past participation in tournaments (a possible nod to the other fighting games he’s guest-starred in over the years), but wants to talk about a particularly strange one involving “beasts, scoundrels, princesses, the undead, automatons, and…history’s greatest musician.” While it may not be totally obvious at first, these are references to various characters on thePlayStation All-Stars Battle Royaleroster.

Beasts could be a nod to the various animal-based characters that are on thePlayStation All-Stars Battle Royaleroster, while “scoundrels” likely references Nathan Drake ofUnchartedfame. The “princesses” line is referencing Fat Princess, while the undead is a nod to Sir Daniel Fortesque ofMediEvil. Automatons is a likely reference to Clank fromRatchet & Clank, while “history’s greatest musician” is a hilarious description for PaRappa the Rapper. Kratos does not confirm or deny toMimirthat he participated in such a fight, but instead says that he does not want to talk about it and the matter is dropped.
