Magic is a powerful powerful force inGreedfall(second only to romance), particularly later in the game, so choosing Magic as a starting class is a wise move. Some players specialize solely on Magic, and so ignore conventional weapons in favor of channeling magic power through their ring (which are confusingly classed as melee weapons inGreedfall).

Greedfall’straditional starting classessimply determine the skills the player starts with, and don’t restrict how the character may develop over the course of the game. For this reason, “dual-class” character builds are popular inGreedfall, with a lot of Magic players spreading their attributes out and blending their Magic powers with a pistol, rifle, or melee weapon. For those who choose to do so, here are some great picks.
10Hammer Of The Forgotten God
For most players, this is the first Legendary weapon they’ll acquire in the game. And for the Magic class, it’s worth hanging onto, possibly until the very end. It might not be quite as powerful as somelate-game weapons, but it’sa one-handed heavy weapon, which is one of the skills the Magic class starts with. It also only requires2 Strength, which is low considering its power.
Obtain it by completing the“The Man With The Silver Coin”quest in New Serene, which starts as soon as the player completes “Coin Guard Merchandise.” The hammer will appear in the player’s stash upon completion of the quest.
9Alchemist’s Rapier
Why an alchemist would need a rapier, as opposed to a good set of secateurs, is anyone’s guess. But regardless of its mysterious name, this one-handed blade combines good basic stats with strong elemental damage. It has amodest Agility requirement, making it ideal for a Magic class character looking for a taste of steel to back up theirStorms and Shadow Bursts.
The Alchemist’s Rapier was actually a bonus item gifted to anyonewho pre-ordered the gameback in 2019. That ship has long sailed, of course, but it’s possible tocraft a copy of the blade using a Workbench.
8Scimitar
Don’t be fooled by the short, unspectacular name. InGreedfall, the humble scimitar isa Legendary weapon. One that can be found quite early in the game, and requires only2 Agilityto wield. Be warned though, it also requireslevel 2 of the Vigor Talent.
As soon as the player first gets the chance to visit Glendgnamvar, head for the east side of the region and look for a small broken bridge. Follow the path up the bridge and cross the gap by jumping (this is where that Vigor comes in). A little further down the path, the player will find the Scimitar in a chest.
7Infantryman’s Arquebus
This Epic rifleis a great choice for any player pursuing a dual-class build. It requires3 Accuracy, but packs a serious punch in return. It’s relatively slow to fire (though not anything like as slow as a real arquebus would be), but does heavy damage and has a high chance tostun its target(if they even survive).
Like mostGreedfallweapons that aren’t unique and Legendary, the Infantryman’s Arquebus can only be acquired when itrandomly appears as loot or merchant stock.It’s unlikely to do so until the player has reached quite a high level.
6Ivory Plated Duelling Pistol
This pistol does more damage to both the target and its armor than most rifles, plus it has a seriouslyhigh chance to stun. The only trade-off is that it has to be reloaded after every shot, but reloading is always quick inGreedfall. It only requires3 Accuracy, so the player won’t have to stray far from the paths of Mental Power and Willpower to be able to use it.

Despite its power, the Ivory Plated Duelling Pistol is not Legendary, and so can only be acquired once the player is sufficiently high in level tofind Epic items in loot drops and merchant stock.
5Divine Ring
This powerful ring will give a hefty boost to a Magic user’s basic magic attacks and, unusually for an Epic item, it can reliably be found in a specific location.
At the northern tip of Tir Dob there is a marshland. Scattered around that marshland are the corpses of several Theleme citizens, all of them priests judging by what they’re wearing. All of them are wearing rings, the best of which is the Divine Ring, found on thecorpse lying at the foot of a large tree to the north.
4Ring Of Divine Fury
Of the most powerful rings in the game, this is the easiest to obtain, considering it’s awarded to the player for completing a quest in the main story line. That quest is “In pursuit of Tierna Harh Cadachtas,” which takes place in the ancient woods of Frasoneigad.
It’s a long quest, climaxing in a tough battle against a huge Ent-like creature. Defeating the creature leads to the discovery that the player has been manipulated by a spy and, after another brief battle with him, the player can decide whether to kill him or let him go. After that, the quest is complete and the ring is awarded.
3Ring Of Divine Punishment
This is a very powerful ring, but there’s no reliable way to obtain it. A few players have reported getting it in loot drops early on, while others claim to have repeatedly visited every merchant in the game, and not once set eyes on it.

It’s not the best ring in the game, but it is themost powerful one that appears randomly, which makes it something of a collector’s item. Players who seek it have no choice but to keep playing until it eventually shows up.
2Ring Of Damnation
It would be reasonable to expect one of the game’s most powerful rings to be guarded by a powerful monster at the end of a long, hazardous quest. Reasonable, but wrong. The Ring Of Damnation is actually just sitting in anunguarded chest just outside the town of San Matheus.
To find it, head out of the east gate and immediately turn left off the road. A little way up the hill is an abandoned cart, behind which is a chest. Open it up to claim the Ring Of Damnation.
1Ring Of The Mother Cardinal
This is by far the best ring in the game, but the only chance to get it occurs right at the end of the main questline. Unfortunately, that doesn’t leave much opportunity for players to enjoy it.
The player can’t get the ring if they have a Friendly relationship level with the Theleme during the final quest, “Together For Teer Fradee.” They also can’t get it if they persuade the Theleme to participate in the final battle. Butif they’re not too friendly with the Theleme, and they don’t agree to fight alongside them, then they will (for some reason) be awarded a ring. That ring might be the Ring Of The Mother Cardinal — but it might not. It’s random, which is weird, but it’s the only way to get it.
