Summary
Planters can be stacked on top of each other inHogwarts Legacy, which completely transforms the way that players can approach decorating the Room of Requirement. While fans were undoubtedly disappointed thatHogwarts Legacyhad zero nominationsat The Game Awards 2023, Avalanche Software has still created one of the best-selling video games of a very stacked year of gaming. The commercial success ofHogwarts Legacyproved that there was a huge demand for a proper RPG set in the Wizarding World, and the developers at Avalanche tried their best to meet a decade of fan expectations and daydreaming.
Though theopen-world approach ofHogwarts Legacyreceived plenty of praise at launch, another aspect of the game that players thoroughly enjoyed was its Room of Requirement. Serving as a base of operations for the main character, the Room of Requirement was a location where players could craft and upgrade their equipment, brew potions, or even tend to magical beasts saved from poachers. Beyond that, it was also their home at Hogwarts that could be decorated in a wide variety of styles and decorations obtained from treasure chests scattered throughout the game.

A player named drmevans shared a neat Conjuration trick on the mainHogwarts Legacysubreddit that opens up some new possibilities when it comes to decorating the Room of Requirement. Namely, whileConjurations inHogwarts Legacycannot be stacked on top of each other under normal circumstances, a planter creates soil, allowing players to stack a new planter on top of it. When Conjurations are dismissed, summoned objects can still float in the air even if they’re not connected to anything, and this effectively means that players can not only reach unintended places in the Room of Requirement but also build “sky castles” using the method.
WhileHogwarts Legacyhas its share of mods, the planter method shared by drmevans can be accomplished in the vanilla game as well, and it persists even after reloading the save. Players can use it to place furniture outside the boundaries of the Room of Requirement’s outdoor areas, such as above the waterfall in the Forest Vivarium, or to scale the mountain in the Coastal Vivarium for an even more breathtaking view.
As much as fans enjoyedHogwarts Legacy, many would agree that there are plenty of features that Avalanche could improve upon in a hypothetical sequel. While no official confirmation has been made yet, rumors suggest that a sequel toHogwarts Legacyis already in development, and bringing back the Room of Requirement would be an obvious way to go.
