During Act 2,Baldur’s Gate 3players may come across a large statue inthe Shadow-Cursed Lands. They will need to solve the puzzle connected to it by activating the plaques in the correct order. Thus, the party will be able to get to the monument hidden below it, created by the Shar cult followersled by Ketheric Thorm.

Inside, players will be able to get to the Shar Altar. However, if the wrong actions are taken in this Sharran Sanctuary, the party will be attacked by Sentinels, so players should proceed with caution when they gain access to it.

How to Solve The Plaque Puzzle In The Shadow-Cursed Lands

In the Cursed Village, at coordinatesX:-155; Y:-32,Baldur’s Gate3players will find a huge statue. On the sides of this statue are3 plaques with unfinished inscriptions. After interacting with them, the character will have topass a Perception check, and, if successful, they will hear asound of movementfrom a nearby mechanism. To make the mechanism work, players mustactivate the plaques in the correct order. They need to read one line of each plate in turn to make a poem:

Our lady of loss

Baldur’s Gate 3: Shar Altar

Mistress of pain

When night falls

Thorm shall rise

To complete this poem, players must activate the plaques in this order:

After that, the statue will open, and players can enter inside to discoverthe Sharran Sanctuary.

How to Get to The Shar Altar

In the Sanctuary, players will see 3 statues. After interacting with them, the character will have topass Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom checks.

The Difficulty Class for each is14, but the Cleric of Shar will not need to roll a dice and will immediately pass each check. If a character fails the check, they will receive a -5 penalty to the tested ability and the party will beattacked by three Sentinels; if the check is successful, the character will receive +5 to their ability. These buffs and debuffs will remain in effect until the character who receives them goes for a long rest.

When players pass all the tests, a passage to the Shar Altar will open. To make a sacrifice, characters must pass a Religion check or be a Cleric of Shar. Here are the rewards that players will receive if they bring blood to the altar:

If players decide totake the RitualDagger of Shar, they will be attacked just as if the check failed. This weapon can hardly be called strong, however, so it’s not worth the trouble.
