Despite the fact that many fans would like to move on to the next installment in theElder Scrollsseries,Skyrimis still getting a lot of mileage. Along withGTA 5andRed Dead Redemption 2, Bethesda’s 2011 epic isone of the most immersive open world games around. The vanilla experience alone is enough to suck people in for hours, but it’s the modding community that really ups the ante. Sometimes this immersion comes in the form of shocked civilians.

Modder JaySerpa has uploaded their latestSkyrimproject. This one is guaranteed to garner some additional attention for any mage who favors black magic, as this mod makes it so that NPCs will react whenever necromancy is witnessed in public. A brief video shows that, whenever the player does something like resurrect a corpse or have a skeleton wander around with them, people will have negative things to say about the practice. For example, one guard calls it “disgusting” and urges the player to get away from them.

While it doesn’t seem as though characters will do anything physical in retaliation, it does add to the negative connotations of being someone who walks around resurrecting the dead.Necromancy inSkyrimenables players to have an army of the undead at their disposal. There are a number of conjuration spells that the Dragonborn can utilize, though the practice itself is generally considered to be quite taboo and a little morbid. However, in combat it can be a very useful skill, though this mod makes it so that players might feel a little bit of shame about doing it in polite company.

For those who keep a close eye on Nexus Mods, the name JaySerpa is likely to be familiar. They have uploaded a number of interesting mods for the game, such as the one that addslessons to the College of Winterhold inSkyrim. They also created one that overhauled the stealth mechanics so that players could peep through keyholes, as well as one that splices together dialogue from the main game to create brand-new lines for NPCs without having to do custom voices.
