The world has just been treated to news it hasn’t heard in roughly 15 years: the newIndiana Jonesmovie has wrapped filming. Now, whether that news is exciting or terrifying has yet to be seen, as details surrounding the movie are agonizingly scarce at the moment. But it’s got Harrison Ford and some other people. That’s pretty much all it takes.

Indiana Jones 5producerFrank Marshall just announced the completion of this particular development stage on Twitter, presumably prompting plenty of cautious optimism fromIndiana Jonesfans old and new. With some replies making light-hearted jokes and others helpfully linking to a page to buy the hat shown in Marshall’s post, it may be tough to gauge the exact vibe among audiences at the moment. But one thing’s for sure, this is an important milestone nearly 2 decades in the making.

Keeping things on-brand, Marshall didn’t reveal any plot details or even the film’s title. That’s certainly some commitment to the bit. But thirsty fans shouldn’t necessarily take the lack of info as a sign of the apocalypse. After all,the unnamedIndiana Jones 5has some pretty impressive talent behind it, even aside from Marshall continuing his role as producer of everyIndiana Jonesfilm thus far.

Naturally, the movie will star Ford in the titular role once again. But this time, many are speculating that he’ll end his story with a “passing of the torch” moment, possibly setting up a new lead to replace Ford. Admittedly, some are probably relieved to know this will happen in a movie that doesn’t star Shia LaBeouf (nothing against the guy, but the loud masses certainly had some things to say about his presence inIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). But hey, just because an episode ofIt’s Always Sunny in Philadelphiaparodied the idea doesn’t mean it won’t work.

Ford will be joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge(Fleabag), Antonio Banderas (Spy Kids, that one PS4 meme), Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Toby Jones (Marvel Studios’What If…?), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther), and Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong,Blade II). Not only will the film feature this heavy-hitting cast, but it will be directed by James Mangold, praised for his work on hits likeLoganandFord v Ferrari. So there’s clearly talent oozing into every corner of this production.

Now that filming is complete, it’s only a matter of time before audiences finally get something big to talk about. Heck, it’s already got a targeted release date, so hopefully that will head off any possibilities of delays with everything in the home stretch. But whatever happens, it’ll sure be nice to see Ford don the hat and whip once again.

Indiana Jones 5is set to release on June 30th, 2023, and it might even have an actual title by then.
