Insomniac Games has confirmed that there will be no demo for the upcomingSpider-Man 2. Video game demos usually give players a brief vertical slice of how its open-world, combat, or story would work in real-time. The game is set to release later this October, so while it is not too far away, this news will likely still disappoint fans who were looking to playSpider-Man 2before launch.The superhero open-world adventure was discussed earlier this June in a short interview at Summer Game Fest, which confirmed two important details. The first was its release date, with the second being thatEddie Brock is not the identity of Venom inSpider-Man 2. Fans also got to see an extensive playthrough demo during the May PlayStation Showcase event, which featured Peter Parker using the Black Suit along with Miles Morales' new abilities. After a brief thank-you message from Insomniac Games, the user than followed up with inquiring if PlayStation could be convinced to drop a demo on the storefront for fans to play. Insomniac quickly followed that up with a confirmation that there are no plans for a demo of the upcomingopen-world PS5 game.
To be fair,the last twoSpider-Mangames released by Insomniacdidn’t receive demos when they first launched on the PlayStation consoles. However, it was reported that PlayStation will require timed game trials for certain games, with developers needing to have them available for gamers three months after the original game has been published. This gave some fans hope of a demo this time around, and while a timed trial for PS Plus may happen, a proper demo will not.
For the time being,Spider-Man 2is looking to be quite an improvementover the last two games. It features both a playable Peter and Miles as the Spider-Men, with both characters having unique powersets. Not only that, but the story is set to be darker than the previous games, with Peter already succumbing to the Symbiote’s negative influence and Miles possibly positioned to save him this time around. With so much going on, it’ll be interesting to see how the story of Insomniac’s heavily anticipated sequel will pan out.
