The rumor mill is turning faster and faster for the potential remake of JRPG classicChrono Cross. Details have leaked regarding theChrono Crossremake’s potential developer, when it could be announced, and even the return of certain musical talents. However, despite the variety of leaked information about theChrono Cross, some still find it hard to believe in the remake’s existence. A new leak may change that, as there appears to be aChrono Crosscrossover event planned for mobile gameAnother Eden.
Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Spaceis a free-to-playmobile RPG, though its recently been ported to PC and is planned for the Nintendo Switch, too. Like many free-to-play mobile RPGs,Another Edenis a gacha game, meaning players rely on randomized rolls to acquire characters that they’ll use in-game. That’s where theChrono Crosscrossover comes in. The leaked data hints that an upcoming event will allowAnother Edenplayers to acquireChrono Crosscharacters.

The leak, first shared in the Reddit community forAnother Eden, says that the crossover material found in the game’s files is robust. It’s enough to make clear this isn’t an accident or fragments of a canceled event. There are scripts said to mention the release ofChrono Crosscharactersincluding Serge, Kid, Harle, and evenChrono Trigger’s Lucca.Another Edenwill also receive additional story content for theChrono Crosscollaboration.
As for whyChrono Crosswould cross over withAnother Eden, the mobile game was written and directed byMasato Kato. Kato is, of course, wroteChrono Triggerand directed/wroteChrono Cross. Despite that, in order forAnother Edento have aChrono Crosscrossover it would require the approval of Square Enix. Therein lies the connection leading some to consider this evidence of theChrono Crossremake being a reality.
The long and short of it is that aChrono CrossandAnother Edencollaboration means Square Enix and Masato Kato are working together again. Specifically, they’re working together on something tied toChrono Cross. Kato’s involvement wouldn’t be required forSquare Enix to remakeChrono Cross, but that they are potentially connected again does imply there’s something more going on.
If theChrono Crossremake is real, then it doesn’t seem like fans will have to wait long to find out more. The rumor is that the remake will be announced in December as part of a PlayStation event. It’s still an odd situation, making aChrono Crossremake before aChrono Triggerremake, but it does seem to have some basis in truth.
