Atlus’Personafranchise was once niche, but it has since become a mainstream hit, largely thanks to the success ofPersona 5. DespitePersona 5’s widespread popularity, Atlus has been slow to capitalize on the newfound interest in the series, with many older titles remaining hard to get on outdated hardware. However, a new rumor claims that the acclaimedPersona 4 Goldenmay finally be making its way to more platforms.
Leaker Zippo, who has accurately leaked industry news in the past but does not have a perfect track record, has claimed that the console ports forPersona 4 Goldenare “apparently complete and ready to go.” Zippo believes that thePersona 4 Goldenconsole ports will be released for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, with no mention of a possible Xbox version. Zippo is unsure how much the ports will cost, but speculates that it may be a bit more expensive than the PC port since it will presumably be getting a physical release.

For the uninitiated,Persona 4originally released on PlayStation 2 and earned widespread critical acclaim at the time of its release. Atlus later released anenhanced version for the PlayStation Vita calledPersona 4 Golden, which added new content and made various improvements.Persona 4 Goldenremained trapped on the PS Vita until June 2020, at which point Atlus finally released aPersona 4 GoldenPC port.
The success of thePersona 4 GoldenPC portled many to assume that the game would be coming to other platforms as well, but two years later and no such ports have been announced. It’s a bit odd that Atlus hasn’t broughtPersona 4 Goldento the PS4 and PS5 at least, considering the franchise’s close connection with the PlayStation brand, but it is what it is. If Zippo’s information is accurate, it seems that PlayStation fans shouldn’t have to wait all that much longer to play the game on the new hardware, though it’s best to keep one’s expectations in check.
SomePersonafans may be excited about the possibility that they will get to replayPersona 4 Goldenon modern platforms, but others may be more curious about the future of the franchise. It’s been a whopping six years sincePersona 5originally released andPersona 6is still nowhere in sight. Hopefully a proper reveal for the game comes soon, along with any otherPersonaprojects that could be waiting in the wings.
