Marvel’s Avengershas been on the road to redemption with much of its fanbase for some time now. Between all of the technical glitches and overall shortcomings the game has been plagued by since launch, many fans have also been largely disappointed by the game’s cosmetic offerings. One subject of complaint in particular has been a lack of MCU-related content, as there are a number of looks from those films that players would like to see brought into the game. After recent leaks and an official announcement revealed thatMCU skins are finally coming to the game, fans are finally able to rejoice.

The leaks around the MCU skins inMarvel’s Avengersrevealed that Crystal Dynamics' priority is going to be on the highly-popularAvengers: Endgame. Skins for Hulk and Captain America based on the movie leaked through a glitch, and shortly after, it was officially revealed that Black Widow would be getting a skin based on her suit from the movie as well. Now that Crystal Dynamics is officially venturing into the MCU for cosmetic inspiration, it opens up a lot of possibilities for other skins based on older films. Each character featured in the game has plenty of looks to choose from, and few are as varied as Captain America himself.

Comic-Accurate Captain America Suit

Bringing the classic suit into the game would not only commemorate a key MCU moment for Cap, but it would give fans one of the most comics-accurate skins in the whole game. There might be some gameplay discrepancies in the fact that Cap’s shield at the time was the pointed style that he started with, but just giving him a round shield would be a small price to pay for the classic wings and bright reds and blues of the suit. Including this suit in the game could also serve as a great way to distract players from the hockey-pad-reminiscent suit that received a lot of criticism whenthe character designs forMarvel’s Avengerswere first revealed.

The Winter Soldier Stealth Suit

One of the most consistently praised films among the MCU fanbase isCaptain America: The Winter Soldier. The second film in Steve Rogers' dedicated series was successful in delivering a compelling story and heart-pounding action, and it largely served as the basis forThe Falcon and The Winter Soldierseries. In addition to the gripping narrative of the film,The Winter Soldierwas responsible for introducing one of the most iconic Captain America suits in all of the MCU. The suit in question is known as Cap’s stealth suit, and it would be a great opportunity forMarvel’s Avengersto bring it into the game.

While it is true thatMarvel’s Avengersalready has a suit for Cap that is somewhat based on this look, the MCU version is so widely beloved that it still might be worth putting into the game. The MCU stealth suit takes a much more minimalist approach than some ofCap’s more flashy looks, and perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of it is that the shield also takes on a different color. The loud reds of the shield are painted over with blue for the sake of stealth, and adding this detail in the game would introduce a highly requested level of variety to how the shield is styled between skins.

Infinity War Suit

Many of Captain America’s suits in the later half of the most recent MCU films were all mostly the same. Starting withAvengers: Age of Ultron, Cap took on a style that combined elements of his first official combat suit from World War 2, with the stars and stripes of his suit from the firstAvengersfilm. This was mostly a case of, “it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” but afterthe events ofCaptain America: Civil War, there was suddenly the need to change up Cap’s look to reflect his newly found rebellion. It turned out to be quite easy for Cap to adjust to life on the run, asAvengers: Infinity Warintroduced one of the most dramatic changes to his look through all of the films.

Cap’s look inInfinity Warrepresented the massive change that he underwent afterCivil War, standing in opposition to the very government that he signed up to protect. He still wore the same suit from that film, but now the trademark star in the middle of his chest was removed and the colors were noticeably darker. In addition to this, perhaps the most talked about change by fans was the introduction of a luscious new beard and significantly longer hair. Even though the character model would likely still be the game’s Captain America and notChris Evans, it could still be a great way to add more variety to Cap’s skins.

Although the reveal thatMarvel’s Avengerswould be getting MCU skins might not have gone according to plan for Crystal Dynamics, there is still a lot of clear excitement among much of the fanbase.TheAvengers: Endgameskin that has been leaked for Captain Americaappears to be a faithful recreation, and it shows that the game’s developer is putting a lot of care into the costumes that fans have been waiting on. With Black Widow’s suit just recently revealed, it’s hard to say when exactly fans should expect any more MCU skins. Hopefully whenever they do arrive, they can serve as a nice way to hold fans over until more news on future story DLC arrives.
