It may have been delayed, butMarvel’s Midnight Sunsis still one of the most anticipated upcoming games, withXCOMdev Firaxis getting ready to deliver a Marvel strategy game seemingly like no other.Marvel’s Midnight Sunshas already confirmed its starting roster of playable heroes, and the cast is stacked with iconic faces like Iron Man, Captain America, Blade, Ghost Rider, and Scarlet Witch. To make it even better, Firaxis just announcedMidnight Suns' first wave of post-launch DLC characters, and there are plenty of additions that could follow them.

Midnight Suns' first wave of DLC characters in early 2023 includes Venom, Storm, Morbius, andthe fourth wall-breaking merc with a mouth, Deadpool. With their own set of unique abilities, these DLC characters add even more variety toMidnight Suns' impressive roster. However, there’s always room for more, and this DLC should add some new Marvel villains for its new heroes to fight.

Marvel Villains Who Should Come to Midnight Suns with the DLC

Right now, a good few characters onMidnight Suns' launch rosterhave a corresponding villain on the opposing team. Spider-Man has Venom, Wolverine has Sabretooth, the Hunter has Lilith, and while they may not usually be foes, recent media has portrayed Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch as magical rivals. With these DLC characters, it only makes sense for Firaxis to follow suit with new villains for the heroes to take down, ones that correspond with each new addition.

For Storm, any of the Brotherhood of Mutants would do the trick. Magneto would be an obvious pick as the leader of the Brotherhood, but Mystique would also work quite well. Some of the Brotherhood’s lesser-known characters would be fun to see inMidnight Suns, such as Multiple Man, Lady Deathstrike, or Fatale.Midnight Sunsalready seems to be giving recognition to some more obscure characters, such as Magik andThe Runaways' Nico, so it would great to see Firaxis continue that trend in its DLC. Alternatively, Firaxis could lean into meme culture and bring Toad to the game, referencing Halle Berry’s infamous line in the firstX-Menmovie.

The most likely counterpart to Venom would be another symbiote character. The most obvious option is Carnage, withthe two having faced off recently inVenom 2. But there are plenty of other symbiotes to pick from, ranging from Toxin, Scream, Phage, Lasher, or Agony. Firaxis could go above and beyond and include the whole symbiote family, but that might be over-the-top for just one DLC character.

Coming hot off the trail ofhis infamously awful movie, Morbiusis a tricky character to predict a villain for, being primarily a Spider-Man and Blade villain. However, Morbius has come up against plenty of adversaries over the years, some of which would make great additions toMidnight Suns' roster. Nightmare is one of Morbius' most powerful foes, using interdimensional travel to influence dreams and cause great suffering. The awkard-named Vic Slaughter is also a lethal adversary, being a ruthless mercenary who Morbius accidentally turned into a vampire.

Last up is Deadpool, who has no shortage of enemies throughout the Marvel universe. Often considered Deadpool’s nemesis, T-Ray could be a good fit forMidnight Suns, with his ability to read ancient symbols and summon mystical creatures. Taskmaster, a mercenary with a photographic memory, has also crossed swords with Deadpool in the past. Butthe most powerful of Deadpool’s foes, and the one best-suited forMarvel’s Midnight Suns, is Mister Sinister: an iconic evil scientist with the power of molecular manipulation, telepathy, telekinesis, and superhuman strength.

Marvel’s Midnight Sunslaunches December 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later.
