Capcom has provided an updated report regarding theMega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection’s sales, noting it has managed to cross a major sales milestone after its first week. Unlike the mainMega Manseries being action-based platformers, this sees the player fighting against the forces of evil that lurk within the game’s cyberspace, such as viruses and hackers. This subseries first originated asGame Boy Advance exclusives, with no new titles in this subseries in the past two decades. This collection brought all the games from the Nintendo handheld to the current generation, including Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC.
This is a part of several otherMega ManLegacy Collection releasesthat were published by Capcom, which help preserve these games and make them accessible to new fans. The publisher has been doing a lot to promote the game, including a marathon of the anime on Twitch, a manga chapter, soundtrack releases, along with new merchandise like shirts. This excitement for the game is quite palpable, indicated by managing to cross a major milestone after only being released for a week.

According to a celebratory tweet from the official Twitter account,Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collectionhas managed to sell over a million units worldwide. That said, this statistic is based on the combined sales of both Volumes 1 and 2, much like the otherLegacy Collectionreleases. While they are sold separately, fans can buy them together as if they were one AAA release.
There was evidence that theBattle Network Legacy Collectionwas already off to a strong start, where an early sales chart from Famitsu saw it move over 60,000 units within the first few days when it was released in Japan. This figure was purely tracking physical sales in Japan, which were incredibly healthy overall. With the release of the collections in the West, it has managed to cross one million units, an encouraging sign for the series.
The best-sellingMega Mangame in the franchise is currentlyMega Man 11, which held the title at 1.6 million units sold. The previous game that held that title wasthe originalMega Man 2, at 1.51 million units, with this being surpassed in November 2022. With this new collection, it might end up becoming the new crown holder for the best-selling game in the franchise’s history.
