Minecraftpresents gamers around the world with a massive, wide-open sandbox to play in, but more importantly, it also offers gamers the ability to build whatever they want in that sandbox. Many players have constructed tributes to and recreations of characters and locations from their favorite media properties. Now, oneMinecraftplayer has recreated part of the towering fantasy city of Minas Tirith fromThe Lord of the Ringsfranchise.
Minas Tirith was thecapital city of Gondor, renamed from Minas Anor after the fortress Minas Ithil was conquered by the forces of Mordor. Its original name means “Tower of the Sun,” while Minas Tirith means “Tower of the Guard.” The name change may have been intended to represent Gondor’s determination to stand against the darkness, even after the fall of Minas Ithil.

Redditor eagoid shared a screenshot of their in-progress recreation of Minas Tirith entirely insideMinecraft. This isn’t the first timeThe Lord of the Ringsfans have triedrecreating the franchise’s iconic locations inMinecraft, but it may be one of the most beautiful. In the screenshot, eagoid shows off one building in particular - the grand dome found on the first level of Minas Tirith. The result is simply spectacular.
The screenshot shows a border of stone blocks forming a circular hole through which the camera is peering. Inside the hole is a gorgeous view of theside of Minas Tirith, complete with ivy clinging to the stone and conifer trees sprouting up along the walls. The side of the fortress city blends smoothly into a building topped with a massive, rounded dome. The roof is shown in two colors: a clean white and pale mint green. There also appears to be an extra rooftop decoration, similar to a massive weather vane, but the screenshot has cut the tip of it off.
Apparently, eagoid used the Conquest Reforged mod - SEUS shaders to add a sense of detail andrealism to thisMinecraftbuild. Reportedly, this mod is often seen as a go-to choice when building medieval landscapes inMinecraft. This is because the textures are designed to evoke the feel of the time period, allowingMinecraftplayers with enough skill to create incredible builds. One user replied to this screenshot by declaring that the creation wasn’t evenMinecraftafter having the mods applied. Several other users appear to agree, although many of them were still complimentary about the creation. Regardless, careful viewers can still pick out many individual blocks in this version of Minas Tirith.
Minecraftis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
