Unfortunately, there’s a distinct lack of Ice-based monsters inMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, which can make it very difficult to obtain an exclusive item: the Cryo Sac. That’s okay though, as this guide will helpMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakplayers to find and acquire a Cryo Sac efficiently.

How To Get The Cryo Sac

There are only threemonsters inMonster Hunter Risefrom which players can acquire a Cryo Sac: Barioth, Goss Harag, and Aoura Somnacanth. Of these three, Goss Harag has the lowest chance of dropping one, while Aoura Somnacath offers the highest. In the end, it’s up to the personal preference of the hunter as to which monster they choose to fight. However, those looking to acquire a Cryo Sac as quickly as possible should focus their attention on fighting an Aoura Somnacanth.

Defeating an Aoura Somnacath will grant a 19% chance of earning a Cryo Sac. However, if the hunter manages to catch the beast, an additional 14% will be added, giving the player an overall 33% chance of earning the item. Unlikeother monster drops inMonster Hunter Rise, breaking its parts will not grant any additional bonuses. With that in mind, players may want to learn how to fight an Aoura Somnacanth.

How To Defeat Aoura Somnacanth

AnAoura Somnacanth is a unique sub-speciesof a normal Somnacanth, meaning it retains most of its original moveset but with a few new tricks. Unlike the original, the Aoura version swaps its previous weakness of Thunder for Fire, and, as one might expect, it now uses an excessive amount of Ice-based attacks. When hit by one of these attacks, there’s a high chance that the player will gain Iceblight, which decreases their stamina, so they should eat a Nullberry to remove it as quickly as possible if this happens.

Unlike the standard counterpart, an Aoura Somnacanth is far more aggressive and will slide and circle around players more often. This fight will require players to use their Wirebug more often to maneuver around the beast to avoid its attacks. Otherwise, players should be wary of its new ultimate move, the Icy Wasteland. Aoura Somnacanth will let out a roar and begin to circle the player. Shortly after, it will stop and let out another roar that will trigger a series of Ice explosions. Players can avoid this attack by using a Wirebug to get to a safe distance or shoot a Flash Bomb to stun the monster.

Overall, the fight can be a little tricky to handle and also quite frustrating. With some quick moves though, hunters shouldn’t have too much difficulty dealing with the beast. Upon either slaying or capturing theterrifying beast, players will finally have the opportunity to get their hands on a Cryo Sac.
