Monster Hunter Storieswas originally released for Nintendo 3DS in 2016 as a spin-off of the popular RPG series, with ports for Android and iOS coming out around one year after that. The game was successful, becoming the top-selling title in Japan in the week when it was released, and spawning a sequel calledMonster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Earlier this year, it was announced that bothMonster Hunter Storiesgames would receive remakesfor Switch, PS4, and PC.

Now, theMonster Hunter Storiesproducer Yoshihiro Akira hasrevealed in an interview with Nintendo Lifethat “collaboration content from outside of Capcom” will not be available in this new release. This means that the popularLegend of Zeldacollaboration inMonster Hunter Storieswill continue to be exclusive to the 3DS release. With this DLC, players could wear Link’s green tunic, get an Epona monstie, and the Majora’s Mask for Navirou. As the3DS eShop is currently not working anymore, it’s impossible for players who never purchased the DLC to acquire this content right now.
Monster Hunter Stories Will Not Have Nintendo 3DS-Exclusive Content on Switch
Despite not being mainline installments in the franchise, the twoMonster Hunter Storiesare often considered amongthe bestMonster Huntergamesby its fanbase. In this spin-off series, players fight in traditional turn-based battles instead of in real-time, making it quite a different experience fromMonster Hunter World, for example, which has fights with colossal creatures that require timing and preparation. The newMonster Hunter Storiesremasters will come with full voice acting in English and Japanese, improved visual fidelity, options for playing in high definition, and a Museum mode in which gamers will be able to view over 20 pieces of game art, illustrations, and music.
Fortunately for fans of the spin-off,Monster Hunter Stories 2will also get a remake. The second title is known due to its higher difficulty levels, improved visuals, and a more serious story than its predecessor.Monster Hunter Stories 2was the favorite of many fans, who saw it as an improvement over the first one. However, it still maintains fairly similar gameplay. Both games will be available soon, with the first coming out on June 14, and the second on July 7.
