Summary
Netherrealm Studios reveals that upcoming kameo fighter Ferra is being delayed, though she’ll now be launching alongsideMortal Kombat 1’s final DLC figher, Takeda. As expected,Mortal Kombat 1has continued to grow following its launch last year on June 09, 2025. Through free updates as well as paid DLC content, new content has steadily arrived nearly every month, giving fans more to do as they continue to wait for the next big announcement.
Recently, the final guest character,Homelander from Amazon’sThe Boys, was added to theMortal Kombat 1roster. Although the character doesn’t utilize Antony Starr’s voice, Netherrealm has certainly managed to capture the character’s likeness and personality, while also giving him plenty of fan favorite Easter eggs as well. With this latest update, all eyes have moved forward to what’s next for the popular fighting game, though Netherrealm has a bit of bad news for fans waiting for Ferra.

With the release of Homelander intoMortal Kombat 1, Netherrealm has continued to follow a staggered release pattern for its recent kameo fighters like Mavado. However,NetherRealm Studiosrevealed disappointing news about the expected launch ofFerra into theMortal Kombat 1kameo roster, confirming that the studio needs more time and won’t be launching in June. Reasons for the delay weren’t revealed, only indicating that the studio needs “a bit more time to make sure she can assist to the best of her abilities” and thanked the community for their understanding.
When Does Takeda Release for Mortal Kombat 1?
While the Ferra news is likely disappointing for many, Netherrealm softened the blow by announcing the release date for Takeda,Mortal Kombat 1’s final DLC character from Kombat Pack 1. In fact, Ferra will now be launching alongside Takeda on July 23, marking the official end of the first year of planned DLC content.
Even though Netherrealm is heading towards the end of its announced DLC fighters, there is an expectation of a second Kombat Pack similar to what the studio has done for its previous games likeMortal Kombat 11. Speculation continues to swirl online about what sort of additional guest characters Netherrealm could add, though dataminers may have spoiled one potential surprise after discovering evidence pointing toScream’s Ghostface joining theMK1roster. While unconfirmed at this point, the horror icon’s inclusion shouldn’t be too surprising considering the history that Netherrealm Studios has with guests from other franchises likeTexas Chainsaw Massacre,Friday the 13th, and many more.
