Summary
Mortal Kombat 1could have a prime opportunity to pull in a character from the DCEU as another DLC guest fighter. Considering thatMortal Kombat 1is already featuring crossovers with several major superhero properties, it wouldn’t be much of a shock to add one more to the list. If anything, it would only bolster the game’s already strong roster. There may not be a better time to bring in an extra DC character, andMortal Kombatmay not have another such chance for some time. It may be a risky idea, but it’s one well worth thinking about.
Ever since the revelation ofMortal Kombat 1’s first DLC characters, there seemed to be something of a theme. The set includes a couple of characters important to the game’s lore in Quan Chi and Ermac, but the guest characters may tell a more interesting story. Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker are all major characters from recent adult-themed superhero shows, all of whom should feel perfectly at home in the violent world ofMortal Kombat. It seems like this may beMortal Kombat 1’s guest theme, similar to howMortal Kombat 11had several classic action movie characters. If nothing else, it’s a strong start to the DLC.

Peacemaker Could be Aquaman’s Ticket Into Mortal Kombat 1
Fans ofPeacemakerwon’t be surprised to seePeacemaker performing fatalities inMortal Kombat 1. Scene-stealing appearances inThe Suicide Squadand his own show have shown him to be one of the more brutal characters in the DCEU who isn’t a full-blown villain. While his specialty is gunplay—meaning thatMortal Kombat 1players should expect some zoning in his moveset—he can also brawl with the best of them. He isn’t the only character impacted by his series, though. One scene in the season finale gave fans a short but memorable glimpse at another part of DC’s vast universe.
Aquaman’s role inPeacemaker’s finale features him dealing with someGrand Theft Auto-styled humorat his expense, as Peacemaker and the Flash crack some rather crude jokes in his direction. Aquaman responds by swearing at Flash, which would have been a surprise anywhere else in the DC universe. With Snyder’s DC canon likely to become void followingAquaman 2, there may be an opportunity to seize the moment and bring Aquaman intoMortal Kombat 1as a DLC fighter. WithPeacemakerexpanding on the grittier side of DC, as well as Peacemaker himself already joining the game, the idea is more valid than it would have been previously.

It helps that Aquaman has the tools to succeed as afutureMortal Kombat 1DLC fighter. Of course, he has his signature trident, which could see some gruesome utility in aMortal Kombatgame. In addition, while his ability to communicate with sea life is rather niche, the over-the-top nature of the game could allow him to summon sharks, marlins, and other forms of sea life at will to weaponize against his foes. Not to mention, his skillset could result in some rather interesting aquatic-themes fatalities. For a member of the Justice League, Aquaman has surprising potential as aMortal Kombatcompetitor, especially since NetherRealm already has great experience with the character’s gameplay thanks to theInjusticefranchise.
Peacemaker’s take on Aquaman could be what could bring him intoMortal Kombat. An iconic DC herowinning the Mortal Kombat tournamentis an idea that seemed absurd outside ofMortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. However, with The Joker and now Peacemaker making appearances as DLC fighters inMortal Kombatgames, the barrier between the two universes is looking increasingly thin. That could be enough to justify another DC character coming into the game. As a result, Aquaman could be a potential dark horse to make it intoMortal Kombat 1via DLC.
