Kara fights against her programming to move

Updated on Jul 08, 2025, by Ritwik Mitra:Detroit: Become Human is certainly one of the more ambitious games that David Cage has directed. The sheer amount of work put into the multiple paths that can be unlocked in this game is staggering and goes a long way in adding to the game’s replayability. It feels like a player-driven story experience and is rather impressive as a result, even if the narrative itself can be pretty hamfisted with its real-world allegories. Players will make several important choices as they make their way through this amazing game.

17Let Kara Become A Deviant Or Remain A Machine

Decision Made In Chapter 7: Stormy Night

One of the earliest moments of deviancy players can unlock is when they control Kara, a housekeeping android who works for a drug addict who abuses her child regularly. During one particularly horrifying beatdown, Kara is instructed to stay still as he gears up to unleash a lethal beatdown.

At this moment, Kara can choose to break her programming and become a deviant. It’s an important choice, and failing to make a stand leads to her and Alice’s premature death.

Detroit Become Human Freedom March

16Marcus' Actions During The Freedom March

Decision Made In Chapter 28: Freedom March

The Freedom March is a major point inDetroit: Become Humanwhere players stage what is meant to be a peaceful protest to demand rights for androids. As the members of Jericho and the other androids join the march, cops come to break up the march in a violent manner.

It’s here where players can choose to make a stand, either opting to sacrifice themselves or charging the police to turn the protest into a violent one. Either way, it’s very easy for Marcus to lose his life here unless either John or Simon is a part of Jericho, making for a tense chapter that can sway public opinion and Marcus' relationship with his friends.

15Let Connor Become A Deviant Or Remain A Machine

Decision Made In Chapter 30: Crossroads

Conner is one of the most important characters in the game, with his choices being the highlights ofDetroit: Become Humantime and time again. One such pivotal moment in the series comes when Connor gets the chance to either turn into a deviant or remain a simple machine.

Players need a certain level of software instability to unlock the deviant path. It’s the route that leads to the best ending for all three parties, although players can choose to keep Connor as a machine if they want that instead.

Make Leo Leave in Detroit Become Human

14How To Deal With Leo

Decision Made In Chapter 8: Broken

One of thefirst important decisions that Markus needs to makecomes when Leo, the son of the man he’s taking care of, barges into their home. He asks his father Carl for money, only for the request to be denied.

This causes Leo to fly into a rage and start beating Markus. Players can either retaliate or silently suffer, with the latter leading to Carl’s death. Meanwhile, fighting back leads to Leo suffering a serious injury.

13The Speech In Stratford Tower

Decision Made In Chapter 23: The Stratford Tower

The entire section in Stratford Tower is pretty engaging, with Jericho breaking in to deliver a powerful speech on the airwaves. The content of this speech is decided by the player alone.

They can either choose to wish for peace or promote violence, both of which will have an impact on public opinion and the relationships Markus shares with his friends. Players need to choose the best combination of answers that suit their playthrough.

12The Riot In Capitol Park

Decision Made In Chapter 26: Capitol Park

The riots in Capitol Park mark a turning point for the android revolution, withMarkus and the rest of Jerichohelping the rest of the androids rise up against their human oppressors. This protest can either be peaceful or violent, based on the player’s actions.

At the end of this segment, the rioters will start accosting two police officers who were trying to stop them. Markus can either spare them, shoot them or let the androids decide.

Detroit Become Human Lieutenant Hank Anderson looking down-1

11Prioritize The Mission Or Save Hank

Decision Made Across Multiple Chapters

There are multiple times in the story when Connor will be forced into action against numerous threats. However, Hank can be a bit of a liability at times, and players need to make choices that either adhere to Connor’s objectives or help protect Hank.

Depending on the story that players want to pursue, appropriate decisions should be made for the same. Hank might be a human who needs protection, but he’s also an aging detective who doesn’t need babysitting either.

Todd held at gun point

10Kill Or Spare Todd

In Chapter 7, players take on the role of Kara as Todd finally loses his mind after taking substances. In his high, he becomes angry with Alice, who runs upstairs to hide from him. This reaches a point where Todd has had enough and decides to punish Alice, commanding Kara to wait downstairs. This is where players break through their programming and need to choose how to deal with Todd.

Players may have a gun at their disposal from a previous scene, but whether or not they use it on Todd is an important choice. If he dies, he dies for good. If he survives, he might be able to help Kara much later down her journey when she’s trying to cross the border to Canada.

Carlos' Android in Detroit Become Human

9Prevent Carlos' Android From Dying

Decision Made In Chapter 9: The Interrogation

In Chapter 9, Connor is tasked withinterrogating the androidwho killed Carlos and who was hiding in his owner’s attic. It’s important to keep his stress level high enough to get a confession out of him. What’s even more vital, however, is what happens after his interrogation.

When the guard comes to take him out, the android will show signs of distress and risk self-destruction. If players don’t intervene, they will die and they’ll miss an important clue. If Connor intervenes three times despite Gavin’s warnings, the android will whisper an essential clue to him before walking away to his cell.

Hank’s Son in Detroit Become Human

8Look At The Photo Of Hank’s Son

Decision Made In Chapter 18: Russian Roulette

During the events of Chapter 18, Connor will arrive at Hank’s house to see why he’s not responding to calls or knocking on his door. He finds Hank passed out on the floor with a gun near him, which tells us that Hank is suicidal. After an interaction with him, players are allowed to look around Hank’s home to better get to know him.

Players have a few options to choose from, but the best one is to reach for the photo of Hank’s son. This will unlock an interaction later which will reveal his name, and knowing his name in the final chapter might save Connor’s life.
